<sigh>
Okay, we got back yesterday afternoon and now I'm kinda lost. Not sure exactly what to do with myself....except start planning for next years trip..! Just made ressies and now I feel better..!
Condensed trip report (detailed version will follow in a couple of days):
-maiden voyage with our new fiver..! what a difference from the old TT..!
-stayed at a great KOA in Sweetwater, TN on the way down - highly recommend this place..! Off of I-75, at exit 62.
-arrived at 11:00am on Sunday, 3/30; site 1101 was ready and waiting for us! We loved this site - no neighbors on one side, and plenty of space in between most of the sites in this loop. Very easy to back into. Not a preferred site, and really didnt miss the cable TV at all. The girls watched a couple of DVD's at night before bed, and I could pick up the local news/weather just fine.
-had our lime green mickey antennae thingy with us the whole time on the truck, but probably too small for other DISers to notice. I forgot our DIS "poster" back home, along with some other stuff. I did see the "bradisgoofy" golf cart - it really stood out from the others..! You cant miss him..!
-I splurged this time, and rented a golf cart. Man, what a difference it makes..! If you can afford it or have it in your budget, do it..!
-We did have a couple of "bussing adventures/excursions", but learned how to avoid them when at AK, HS, and EPCOT. DO NOT WAIT FOR THE FW BUS..!
-did the pirates and princesses party - awesome..! the girls loved it, and we hooked up with some friends from Bellbrook. I would recommend hanging at the Fort during the day, and then going to the party in the early evening (it is a separate admission). No wait at all the rides..a treasure hunt for the kids..Captain Jack..Cinderella's carriage..and more!!
-we had the dining plan again, and ate at some new places - Maya Grill (avoid), Ohana breakfast (good), Hollywood and Vine (excellent), as well a couple of our favs (Akershus breakfast and Liberty Tree). Also used our AAA discount at Planet Hollywood, it was well worth it.
-if you have the time, spend the hour or so with the DVC presentation, you will get some "instant" fastpasses. We had four cards, with three instant FP's on each of them. Pretty cool.
-for the most part, the crowds were pretty sparse in the mornings and evenings at all of the parks, the afternoons were a bit more crowded at AK and EPCOT. Overall, not that bad (we've seen worse!!)
-my in-laws did the 'keys to the kingdom" tour - pretty interesting stuff - did you know that they actually blow the smells from the bakeries up into the streets in MK..?
-left on Friday 4/4, in the morning I pulled the camper up into the overflow lot and hit MK for our last day. Came back later that afternoon and realized that we were one of the lucky ones - with all the utility trailers all over the place, there were not many places for campers to park. I overheard a couple voicing their displeasure and had to cover the girls ears..
-stayed at Point South KOA along I-95 in SC (exit 33) on the way back - packed..! Was supposed to have cable, but the connection was "missing". Very friendly staff. Lots of mosquitoes. Not a bad place, but will probably stay somewhere else next time. We liked New Green Acres up in Walterboro, SC at exit 53 at lot better than this one.
That's all for now.! I'll try to pull together all of my notes and post a detailed trip report in a couple of days..
