Going with post back surgery of 6 months and wondering if anyone out there has and what did you do comfortably or semi comfortably whem there. I am big pain tolerator so not afraid do goofys barnstormer and see how that feels.

Just a warning that you don't always feel it right away when you do damage. I would check with your doctor to see what s/he recommends that you stay away from!

I just had back surgery myself last week (had a herniated disc), and we are heading to WDW at the end of November. I'm preparing myself that this trip will be much more tame compared to my trips in the past. I'm planning on avoiding the roller coasters just to be on the safe side, definitely don't want to re-injure my back. You will have had a lot longer to recover then me, but I agree with the previous poster...you might want to check with the Doctor just to be sure.

Either way, I hope you have a wonderful trip!!!!

Stick with the shows and rides like haunted mansion and great movie ride it takes at least a year for any spine surgery to completely heal. No ride is worth going through surgery again. Luckily you are headed to the right place because Disney has the largest amount of back friendly rides of any amusement park in the country.

I went back to FL 9 mo post op after my second back surgery. I really thought I was going to be 13 months post op but I ended up having 2 back surgeries 4 months apart. We went on our trip because basically it was a case of if we didn't go, we lost all of our $$. I learned the hard way about how important it was to buy trip insurance for a cruise!!! Luckily, they let me reschedule our cruise and only charged me the change fee and not the penalities, etc...but the deal was I had to take this trip or we lost our money. So it was go or lose it. And as a family we needed to go. We had had a terrible year. It was VERY VERY ROUGH (travelling and the overall stresses) on me but I guess you could say my case is not the norm as I have been left with permanent damage from my second surgery that cannot be fixed. I would say though, prepare to take everything at a MUCH slower pace, plan to rest even more than what you think you will want to rest, and just enjoy what you do get to do. I did about a 1/3 of what I would have liked to have done. I was in more pain than usual, prepare for that too! Oh MY Gosh!! I thought I was going to DIE on the flight down!!! When we got off of the plane, I just wanted someone to get me to a bed so I could lay down flat. We flew in on a Friday and our cruise started on Sunday. I needed all that extra time to recover and prepare. It was not easy. We went to the house and I went to bed and pretty much didn't get up until Sunday morning except for a few hours on Saturday.
Let people help you!
And most of all remember the NO BENDING, LIFTING, TWISTING rule if you had a discectomy!!! Enjoy, but you still have to be super careful, a strong sneeze can cause you to reherniate/rerupture! Good Luck!! :goodvibes

I'm long way down the road from my back surgery but I still try to baby it. Take it easy and slow. Do NOT ride anything you think might hurt your back, so not worth it. My SO is always making fun of me because for some reason riding the winnie pooh ride hurt my back. Yeah, I know lame. But it was something about the narrow seat and the bouncing or something. Better to be safe than sorry. Disney will be there in the long run, make sure your back can come back and visit!

Splash mountain was no problem for me, it's smooth, space mountain hurt and I won't ride it again. Neither will I ride big thunder mountain.

It's the screws and rods that hurt! Surgery helped with pain but had to get screws removed in 2001 after first surgery back in 2000. Doc says after fusion occurs he will remove screws again. Didn't even need back brace after screws removed :) here's hoping!
