Hi!

Well, the reviews on this resort made me feel good about having ressies there, and they were right on the money!

There were six of us (DH, DS, DIL and 2 grandkids beside myself) and we never felt crowded. They all loved it. I loved that the bedrooms and bathrooms were at opposite ends of the condo. The kitchen and appliances were new and very nice.

We need a light bulb in one of the lamps....5 minute wait! We needed ice because the icemaker in the refrig wasn't working...10 minutes...a bag of ice and a maintenance man...new icemaker installed!!!

Wine and cheese and crackers waiting for us with a note from the manager Wendy. Also, a call from Wendy during the week to make sure everything was all right.

Loved the screened in balcony. Guess what??!! We could see the fireworks from Magic Kingdom and Epcot from the balcony! Awesome!!

We were within a 30 second walk to the pool. We had the pool practically to ourselves all week long. The kids loved it!

The grounds were immaculate. We noticed the people who did not have a car and needed to be picked up by the golf carts never had to wait long at all to be picked up.

We were at the parks in MINUTES!!! Awesome location!!!

All in all...I would go back there in a heartbeat! To all who are going there soon...enjoy!!

Wow! Thanks for the great review. We arrive Sunday for a week's stay and now I'm totally psyched. Question please: which building/unit, etc. were you that you were able to see the fireworks and be close to a pool? Were there scheduled kids activities? Did you try the free breakfast? Was the pool heated? Sorry for all the questions, but thanks for any & all hints!

Hi lorilori

We were in building 18..room 301. I admit, ours was a smoking room, but they might have non-smoking rooms in that building that face the same way.

The pools were like bath water! The one near our room was a zero entry pool...nice tables and chairs all around the pool.

Yes, there were very nice scheduled kids activities, but we did not participate in them. They will give you a complete schedule upon check-in.

We did not partake in the breakfast...but I am sure it was nice. We ate dinner in their dining room one night and the food was very good. I am sure the breakfast is good also.

We had neighbors the last couple of days we were there. You cannot hear your neighbors at all! The only time we knew they were there was if they were on their balcony the same time we were. You cannot see them..the balcony is totally private...just voices could be heard.

A newspaper was delivered to our door every morning. (Wyndham by Request...hope you have joined).

If you need anything like paper towels, TP, garbage bags...just call, they will send them up.

I loved the shampoo and bath products left in the master bath. Soooooo nice!

I hope you enjoy you stay as much as we did. Let me know what you think when you get back, OK?

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask me!:D

Thank you for all the answers! Now with the 3 kids and my sister who usually travels with us, we're actually (sshhhhh) looking forward to NOT staying onsite and having more room. But perhaps I should call Wyndham Palms; I didn't realize there were smoking and non-smoking units in condos. (My little one has a difficult time with smoke.) Did you make requests ahead of time or did you ask at check-in? How was check-in? Thanks again!

Thanks for posting your comments about this resort. I was wondering if you could describe the pool. Large? Small Mediocre? Do you know how many pools there are at this resort? Is the one you were close too have activities etc? Was your building the closest one to the pool? As you can probably tell, we are big pool people. We spend a lot of our vacation time lounging around it which is why I'm asking for details:~)
Thank you for any additional infor you can give.
Jenn

ahhhhh, now I can breath a sigh of relief. :)

newmousecateer--

Thank you so much for posting about your recent trip at Wyndham Palms & CC. I was anxiously awaiting your return to hear all about the resort. It sounds even better now!!!

I have a few questions. How was check-in? We will be needing a non-smoking room, can we request one at the front desk? Can you actually pick your room location? Did you have to take a timeshare tour while there? It's great to hear that you enjoyed your stayed, this makes me even more excited than before!

Jenn-- I think there may be a map of the resort on their website.

Happy trails!

Let me know if anyone has luck requesting non-smoking units. I called to see if they could give me one that had been empty a few days or checked for smoke smell. The person on the phone (not very nice, actually) said they could give no guarantees, because no rooms are dedicated non-smoking, but that they could have housekeeping check the room. She also said they would not necessarily give me a room near the pool. I think I will call back 48 hours before I arive with my requests again and see what happens.

Thanks for your positive review. My family is so excited to go. I checked Hotelkingdom last night, and the prices seem to be going up, so I think we all got lucky with this introductory deal.

Oh, was the lobby construction finished?

Hi!

Well, I requested a smoking room when I made my ressies, so I am not sure about the non-smoking rooms.

Check-in was fine. When someone said it was in a trailer due to construction, I pictured it totally different. It actually looks like a small building. The check-in was fast and efficient. We had a gentleman named Kevin check us in...very nice person.

The pools are definately not large, at least the one by our building wasn't. the deepest it got was 4 1/2 feet. I did not go to the other pools (I believe there are three in all), so I am not sure how large or deep they are.

jdm....there were not any activities around the pool that I was near. For lounging it was great....hardly anyone there. Maybe someone else can help with what the other pools are like.

wdisneelvr....They called to ask about taking the time share tour, but I told them we had our days fully planned and possibly the next time we stayed there. He said "thank you" and never called back again! I am sure you could request a non-smoking room upon check-in. I am not sure if you can pick your room location or not....that just happened to be the room given to us.

Sounds like a great place.!

Is this the one owned by the Wyndham hotels?

Who did you reserve thru?

Thanks,

herc.

Thanks again for all your help and insite on this resort.

I booked thru HotelKingdom.com when it was the $35 rate with the timeshare. I have been to a few timeshares before, so I am prepared. It sounds like everything went really well for you, I'm glad you had a great time!

I can't wait, leaving in two weeks :)

I'll be there in 10 days. I'll be the one with the two cute boys with absolutely no tans and matching shirts and the adorable blond, blond 2-year old niece. See you there!

I have never stayed here but I have heard much good about it. Thanks for sharing you stay there! Glad you had a great vacation!:)

herc

I know it is managed by Wyndham, not sure if they own it. There was a lot of confusion about that here.

I booked through Hotelkingdom.

Have a great time wdisneelv and momof2inPA!!!

Thanks Boots. It was so much fun taking the kids and grandkids for the first time....the looks on their faces!!:D :D

Thank you so much for the great report!! We're seriously considering this property for our trip next year!! Glad to hear it was everything you expected!!

Have to second all the good things said about this place we stayed in August. If I were to be really pickey it would be about the pools. I felt that they were uninspired and not all that great since I was use to the Vistana Villiages pool BUT would I stay there again? IN A HEARTBEAT!!! Plus we were there in summer and the pools were crowded. We has the two bedroom for 75 per night without the timeshare. We figured we would try and get the timeshare next time as a means of getting a low rate to stay there if none were available on Hotelkingdom.

I just booked a 3 bdr for 120.00 a night for two nights. I am happy with the rate and we are looking forward to our stay here.
Thanks for the great review.

torismom - Where did you get that rate from? We're would like to book a 3 bedroom as well. ::MickeyMo ::MinnieMo

I also wanted to chime in and say how much we enjoyed our stay there. We were there just a few weeks ago and had a wonderful time. We had a two- bedroom which we got off of HotelKingdom for $80/night. The jacuzzi bathtub in the master is very nice ;) The only complaint we had was that our air conditioner was not properly working. We called down and by the time we were back that afternoon it had been fixed. We had wine and cheese and crackers and a note left for us by Wendy the Wyndham By Request Manager, and she also called us to see how our stay was going. Our balcony faced some marsh type land, and in the distance the golf course. It was peaceful, but there was no chance of seeing fireworks from our room. I thought that the pools were nice. They are definitely not themed like anything at WDW so do not be disappointed expecting that. They are fairly small, and not very deep. There are abundant seating locations around the pool. Everytime we were at the pool we had it completely to ourselves. They play very nice tropical music at the pool which is relaxing. They have a mushroom type pool play area for children. It looks like a giant mushroom standing up in a small round pool and water cascades off the top of it. The mushroom pool was freezing whenever we were there, but it was nice to just get in that really quick and then get into the regular pool which was average temperature. We never ate at the breakfast, nor did we use the golf cart transportation, or do any of the planned activities. We had a paper on weekday mornings because of WBR. We did not have the rate including a time share, and were never asked to take a tour while we were there. While we saw many other cars and people in our building's parking lot we never heard any of our neighbors. We ordered pizza from Pizza Hut one night (it is onsite) and it was delivered very quickly. Although you do not get cleaning of the rooms unless you pay extra, there is a time to deposit garbage outside your door so that it will be collected, and if you run out ot tissues or toilet paper you can call down. There are plenty of towels in the bathrooms and you get detergent to do laundry if you wish. The second bedroom did not have a clock in it, so if you need one, bring a small travel one from home. We went to walmart and bought a very inexpensive clock/alarm/radio.

Disney845-

Thank you so much for posting the details of your experience at Wyndham Palms. It was very helpful to know. I love your descriptions and can picture the resort. Not sure how much pool time we'll actually get, but it sure sounds nice just to sit and lounge for awhile. We are staying in a 1 bd villa, do you know if it has a washer/dryer with laundry soap? I'm glad you metioned the alarm clock, we will be sure to bring one too.

How was your check-in?

Did you get to request a non-smoking/smoking room or your location?

Agains, thanks for any info...we are getting very excited, going to be there the end of next week!!!

:)

Sorry, I do not know about the 1 bedroom villas, although I would assume that they would have a clock in the master, as the 2 bedroom had a clock in the master, just not the second room. The 1 bedrooms do also have the washer and dryer.

Check in went smoothly. As another poster mentioned I had heard it was in a trailer and was a little apprehensive, but it is a fairly regular looking building, nothing like a small trailer you would see on a construction site, which is what I had pictured. Filled out some paper work, and they will give you as many keys and parking passes as you need. We were having a guest come on our 3rd day. When they arrived they merely told the front gate attendant that they were visiting us and game our room number. The gate attendant gave them a map and showed them how to get to our villa.

I requested a non-smoking room, although I had previously heard somewhere that all rooms were non-smoking, that information is false. I did not smell any smoke in our room, which I would have noticed as I hate smoke. They did have an ashtry in one of the kitchen cabinets, which leads me to believe that our room was not "non-smoking" as I had originally thought.

We did not request a room location. The resort is fairly sprawling and our building was located in the very front to the right (as you would see it if standing at the main office), but due to the nature of the winding road system they have, it was a bit of a drive to reach the exit, or the main office. I did not check out the main pool by the office, but some others in my party did and said it was the same as the pool located in the front near our building. The pool was not within walking distance however, (actual distance wasn't the problem, but the location of building/roads prevented the walk) and we had to drive our car.

I also did not first hand see the mini-golf, although I heard from others in my party who went by to check it out that it wasn't anything special. In other words no cute themeing like WDW or those Pirate or Jungle adventure golf places.

One thing that you may want to take note of, as I found this particularly irksome is the speed limit. The drive into the resort has a long road with a few stop signs. The speed limit (I don't remember what it was exactly) is pretty low, and you can speed up on the hills without noticing. Also in the dark take note of where the stop signs are. Since the entrance road is fairly long I had a tendancy to be driving along and accidentally speed up and or forget to watch for a stop sign which is easy to do since their isn't much resort traffic. Just thought I would give a heads up about that!!

Have a great time!! :wave2:
