I just wanted to share that DD6 and I spent Easter Mon through that Sat at Vero Beach. I had hesitated to book that resort because we are so used to WDW resorts. What could we possibly do at VB? Well, I am sooooo glad we went.

We had an ocean view inn room. Beautiful! The ocean and beach are much closer than I imagined. Sat on the balconey and took in the view. I would have read out there at night but there is no lighting. Couldn't understand that until I read the literature on the turtles. It seems they are confused by lights and may head toward them instead of the ocean. Made sense after I read it.

I cooked breakfast and dinner (microwave). Lunch was at the pool. The pool was fantastic. DD spent as much time as possible in the water, the weather was perfect. USE SUNSCREEN. Even I tried the water slide and loved it.

There were various crafts and things for DD to participate in each day. She made a t-shirt, a tile, and a sandcasting. She loved the campfire/sing-a-long at night. We rented videos each evening for free because we were DVC members. One for her and one for me. We don't golf but did an awful lot of mini-golf. Cute course. And she discovered ping-pong. We chased a lot of balls but we did have a few decent volleys. And we had fun!

Anyway, if anyone is not sure VB is for them, I suggest you give it a try. My DH now says he wants to go and he isn't a beach or pool person. Now I have to figure out when to fit in another trip!

Thanks for posting. We are heading down a week from today and are really looking forward to it. (It will be our 1st time using DVC points for a resort outside of WDW.)

The trip will be hubby, myself (6 months pregnant) and 3 year old DD. I am really looking forward to a relaxing beach DVC resort vacation. It sounds like there is more then enough to do, but laid back enough that you don't feel like you are missing out if you just hang out, relax and play. (we also are staying in a Inn room ocean view.)

I will post a report when we get back.

Glad to hear you had a great time -- I hope you do, too Phd.

Vero can be tricky to recommend because, unlike WDW, it doesn't have "everything". It's hard to know what people enjoy and whether they'll find it at Vero. To me, it's a little bit of paradise. To others, it's just not their cup of tea.

Hi,

Glad you had a good time!!! Thanks for sharing!!! We are planning to go next May for 2 days.

Thanks for the report. We are going down in July for the first time. We are looking forward to it.

Thanks for your report. I'm glad you had a good time!

I really think you will like the resort. You will find it very relaxing and it sounds like you should put your feet up and just rest for awhile. If your DD3 likes to play in the pool you should have it made. They have swim vests at the pool area for the little ones. The beach is flat and fairly narrow and full of interesting shells. If you buy a children's lunch from Bleachers by the pool it comes in a bucket with a shovel. Most 3 year olds are content to just dig in the sand, I know mine did. They rent chairs and dome shelters for the beach on the boardwalk. That might be a good option for you, too. Don't miss the campfire/sing-a-long if you can help it. The kids just love the silly songs and the chance to make and eat a smores.

Have a wonderful trip! And enjoy the peace and beauty of the place.

Thanks for sharing. Sounds like you had a great time.

We felt the same as you the first time we went, were afraid we would be bored. Boy were we wrong!

We will be going back this summer for the 3rd time.

Thanks for the hints Sandygirl!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

we are really looking forward to the trip, (and I feel pretty good at this stage too.) So relaxing, playing in the sand and pool and camp fires sound really good right now (not to mention some good eats and sea food.) We plan on getting sand toys and such down there instead of bringing them on the plane. DD loves the pool and the little kiddie area looks great. She hasn't tried putt putt yet, but we look forward to introducing her to it this trip. She calls it Disney Beach, I hope she isn't disapointed that it isn't WDW, her last 3 vacations have been to here and she is hooked on the place!

I am thinking of getting a message while I am there, I had a few at the local Lifetime fitness here and it feels great right now. We are looking forward to exploring the town are area too.

Just a few days to go now!!!!!

Even after going to VB in 2003, I'm still not a beach person. (I wouldn't want to be mistaken for a beached whale.::yes:: )

That said, my family and I absolutely love the resort and plan on returning in 2006 (going back to HHI in 2005).

Thanks for letting us know about your experience at VB.

::yes:: We always buy sand toys down there. My kids love picking them out. The past few years, we've given them to other children as we were leaving because we didn't want to haul them back in the car. It really makes everyone feel good. :teeth: :sunny:

I hate to think of how many times I have purchased the same set of sand toys at VB.

We did the same thing. Bought DD a noodle float and handed it to an arriving family the day we left. They were happy and my DD felt like she did a good deed.

We did not venture off the resort. Next time I would like to explore the area a little bit. Any suggestions?

We rarely venture off property, either. We only recently started to on the last few trips.

We usually go to Capt. Hiram's for dinner, Casey's Place for lunch, Publix for snacks, Rita's Italian Ice for dessert and we sometimes do a little shopping.

You can also go up to Hale Groves and get some fresh Florida produce.

sandygirl-
Glad you had a great time! Can you tell me how far ahead you booked your stay? We spent Good Friday at Vero and would love to go back next year at Easter, from Sun through Thurs. We can't book until 7 months out, and I'm hoping we don't have a problem getting the room we want. We also had an ocean view inn room; what a spectacular view!

Those are all great sugestions and I plan on taking them, thanks!!

mouseclick1, I know this is differnt times, but for May 2 to 7 (Sun- Thrusday) we booked only a month in advance. I am guessing Easter is rather pouplar.

Gee I hope we find someone passing off sand and sea toys when we get there!
