We decided to go to Universal on the last day of our vacation which was May 21st, so that we could ride Mummy Returns. Well, on the morning of 21st I woke up with a bad lower back pain and although we did go to Universal I could not ride any thrill rides because of the back problem :( So much for waiting for months to ride it.. oh well..
My husband and BIL both rode it and were not impressed - said the actual ride was too short and animatronics not impressive. Well, maybe they said it so that I don't feel too bad :)
The park was very crowded on the 21st and attractions kept breaking - waited for an hour for Shrek (the projector broke), 45 mins for MIB (some technical difficulties), DH and BIL waited 45 mins to ride the Mummy. Our favourite was MIB! Jaws and Earthquake were lame in my opinion.

Sorry to hear about what happened to you. There's always next time, but I do have to say, that I had a totally different experience than your hubbie and BIL. I do agree the ride is too short, but I was overly impressed. The effects compare to nothing already existing. I truly believe Universal has set the record on thrill rides with this one.
