Hello! We are back from our 7 day stay at the CR. It was wonderful. We were upgraded to a marina/lake view in the garden wings south. We had room 6124, wich is a "sideways" room. It was about 5-6 feet wider and longer than the normal rooms. It was wonderful. I was told only 8 of these rooms exist, and they are all first floor. Could watch the fireworks from our patio. The beach was just across the sidewalk, and only steps to the pool. The room was in good order, everything worked, and we had no problems at all.

I'll be happy to answer any questions i can!:teeth:

Sounds like you had a very nice stay. We are staying there for our first time in Dec and we are really looking forward to it.

We are trying to decide on a resort for January...we've never stayed at the Contemporary...I liked that you said that room of yours was bigger (with three children under 10 we need all the space we can get!)...the only drawback I can find for Contemporary is it's decor....all the bright colors in the hallways/elevators made my head hurt....are the rooms less brightly decorated? I don't know if I could rest with all those bright shapes/colors around me.
Thanks! Oh, and how is the pool? Don't know if we'll be able to use it in January but would like to.
Tara

The pool was great, and as all disney pools, it is heated, so dont worry,,,,the hot tubs were great too....

I cant figure whe people remark about the "bright colors"????

i liked it,,, its not like you sit there and look at the walls all day. We always walked outside to get to the main bldg,,,,it was shorter and the view was better.

Ohh, if only you knew!!

If you think the hallway colors are bright, the room decor is so bright that the SOUND it makes might keep you awake at night.

Rooms in the CR are not for everyone. Personally, I enjoyed it. If subtlety is your thing, you'll probably be happier somewhere else. But location and view - CR is my top of the line.

I had one of those rooms facing the lagoon last Christmas. it was great. I was actually upgraded to that from parking lot view. Watching the fireworks was great. The room was clean and the house keeping was good. I loved the decor in the room, but it's very very colorful. My favorite part was the carpet. I always wanted to stay at the CR, and I wasn't disappointed. My wife really wasn't inspired by it, she really loves the AKL.

steve,

love the por favor.......

did you see the monorail magnets that say theat when you push the button? its the best $7 thing i have ever bought at disney!

I really dont see why people gripe about the colors in the rooms....its supposed to be "Contemporary" right???

LOL never saw the magnet. I'll have to try and find one in Jan-Feb when I go. I seem to remember my son picking up a monorail magnet and I remember saying no, Oh well!!

Herbie: Just wondering what you were upgraded from. Did you already have a reservation for the CR for a different room type or were you reserved at another resort and offered the CR upgrade when you arrived? I'm trying to figure out how to get upgraded from a moderate to a deluxe for the second week of December.

hmm...

I've never heard about being upgraded from a moderate to a deluxe resort before. Usually the upgrades people talk about are within the same resort, just a better room.

We are going for our first visit next month to the CR. Glad to hear the wings are nice :) We were told to request north wing, is the south wing higher? Which is closer to food courts, etc?

Closest to ...

North Wing, 3rd fl, facing the monorail, section near main building will be closer to the one food court (not a food court, a snack stop), the elevators or escalators. All the restaurants are on the 4th floor anyway and the monorail is one escalator up from there.

North Wing Monorail view will not be closest to the pool - you'll have to walk through the main building a few steps and out the back (sort of) door. Other than the Tower the North Wing is my st choice!!

By the way...the new decor is why I have not stayed there recently - makes me dizzy and I KNOW it would keep me awake at night!! LOL

p.s. South Wing is not higher...both the same...but if you get the south wing and not an upgrade to a water view you'll be facing a parking lot and maybe the convention center. Not great. North Wing does face a parking lot (very convienent), but the monorail glides by and you can see the MK from the 3rd fl (maybe 2nd too)
