We just returned from a wonderful stay at POR. We were there from Sept. 1 - 8th. We were in AB section building 15 room 1504. The room was clean and we had 2 different towel animals. We thought this was a great location. Short walk to food court, bus stop, and quiet pool. We had a parking lot view but we did not care. We were on the first floor, corner room. The trundle bed was perfect for our 3 yr old dd. I also loved having a fridge and the curtain that blocked off the bathroom from the sleeping area. I was always up first and could get dressed without waking everyone else up. The kids loved the waterslide. My dh went fishing at the fishing hole. He caught a few small fish but there was another family there that was fishing for an hour and did not catch anything. We loved the boat to Downtown Disney. Bus service was preatty good with the exception of one bus driver from MK. It took 30 min to get a bus and once we were on the bus the driver got lost. The food court is ok. I did not think they had a very big selection. It was never really crowded which was good. We ate at Boatwrights for dinner our first night there. The food was ok. If I was paying for the meal I would have been upset but since we were using the Free dining plan no big deal. I did go by the lounge one night when the entertainment was going on. I forget the gentleman's name that was performing. Everyone seemed to be having a great time. Overall we liked the resort but would like to try the Wilderness Lodge next time. Let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,

Sounds like you had a great time. How were the crowds at the parks? We leave tomorrow and will be staying at POR. Thanks for the report!

The crowds or should I say lack of crowds were great. We walked on almost every ride. We got to the parks right when the opened and only had to use the fast pass system when we wanted to ride something mutliple times. It was great! We walked right on EE at the AK at 2:00 in the afternoon. Walked on SM at 3:00. It took longer to walk thru the qeue lines then it did to actually get on the rides. I hope you have a great vacation.

Would you recommend POR or POP to a couple of adults going on a short (3 night) trip? I see you have stayed at both, so I'm just curious. Thanks!

I think it depends on your personality and what you like. If you are fun loving, adventerous and go with the flow then I think you will enjoy POP. If you like a peaceful setting, more relaxed atmosphere then I would stay at POR. My DH does not like LOUD in your face Disney stuff so POR was a great option for us. My Dsis and I love Disney and love the big ICONS that you can only see at Disney so we loved POP.

Pop has a better food court and better bus service. IMO
POR is quieter and has a fridge, and curtain to seperate bathroom area from room area.
POP is very colorful, bright, and has great themes
POR has very neutral colors, lots of greenery, and a waterslide & hot tub.

Good Luck with your decision.

Hi,

we are going there with our 3yearold in October. Which building/rooms are better in your opinion? I would like to be close to a cool pool.

Tks,

Sophei

We are just back from POR Sept 1 - 8th also! I have not stayed at POP but I can tell you that from twelve stays our favorite resort is POR. I imagine POFQ would be equally as nice. There are quiet pools beside each building which are great sometimes for a swim without a ton of people around. The Old Man River Pool at POR is very nice and has a great slide. You can also hop on the boats and travel to POFQ they have a slide that is a serpent's tongue and almost seems geared toward the littler ones. They just redid the playground at POR and it is awesome. I find that it usually not too far to walk to the pools, bus stops or main buildings. I imagine anywhere you stay on property will be nice. We just love POR for it's beauty and convenient location. HTH

Our other stays have been at the Yacht Club twice, Caribbean Beach, and CSR but once we stayed at POR we were hooked.

Sophie, I am not sure how tall your 3 year old is but our dd is only about 38 inches tall and she could not touch at any of the pools. Our dd loves to float using a life jacket so it was not that big of a deal. You can get life jackets from the marina. So if your child is a good swimmer any pool is great but if you would like to use the "baby pool" you will want to request a building close to the main pool. We were in building 15 and it was a short walk to either the main pool or a quiet pool.

We were at POR from 9/1- 9/9 also. We didn't find this place to be as great as everyone else. My husband and I requested alligator Buyou section and that was our only request. However they gave us Acadia House which I did not want. After talking with several people I was given the Alligator Buyou section but our room was way in the back and away from everything. And the worst thing about this resort was the BUSES!!! :scared1: :scared1: The buses were always full and crowded. We didn't leave the parks at closing time either but we always had to wait, only to be placed on a jam packed bus! I am going back to this resort in two weeks and I am not looking forward to staying at POR and dealing with the buses. But, I am going to DISNEY yahoo!! I will be with my mother, daughter and 2 granddaughters so that will be magical even if our lodging isnt. I would love to change resorts but I don't believe I can without loosing my free dining so I will have to put up with the bus situation. I hope we get a building closer. Gosh, it sounds like I had a horrible time when actually my husband and I enjoyed ourselves at Disney but just not the resort.

Dimples,

Were you and DH solo? Since the AB section has the trundle I believe they assign those room to families first.

I didnt get any of my request. AB was a given since there are 6 of us but my main request was 1st floor since i have 2 stroller.. no such luck. I was in building 38 2nd floor.

The busses I had no problems with.. we got on at the North depot ( I was there 8/25-9/2)
