We've been back from POR for a few days now, and I'm already missing the boat to DTD. We got upgraded to a River-view in Magnolia Terrace because according to the castmember at check-in "you're just so darn nice." I had sent down a couple of wedding magazines to the resort, as I was proposing to Rose our first day there, and they were wondeful in not spilling the beans (even though I convinced Rose to sit in one of the couches while I was at the desk). They also didn't even blink when I took out the stack of $270 worth of disney dollars (we pick up some every time we're at the mall) and the other $130 in Visa Dreams $$'s that we used to pay off our balance. In fact, they coplimented us on being so budget minded.
Even though we had a river-view (room 8572), we were on the first floor the windows openend up right to the back of the stairs going to the second floor (we were on the 1st). But hey, it beats the parking lot view we originally had. We would walk out our room, and look right across the water, and see all the ducks floating by.
The busses ran great. The stop was right behind our building, and took a 2 minute walk through the rose garden to get to. The boat to DTD is great as always. We rented a surrey bike one morning, and its a totally different way to see the resort (the path to the POFQ was blocked by a big planter).
Although we never made it to one, the schedule for the campfires at the pool are:
Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday 6:30PM-8PM. S'mores are $5.25, and they do suggest speaking w/ the front desk to make sure you have a seat (and so they can get an idea of how many people are gonna be there).
Col's Cotton Mill, aka the best food court on property, was always a great meal. You can read about some of them
here
And of course, you have to stop by the River Roost and see Bob Jackson. Just remember, "You'll never see these people again in your life!"
Mousekeeping did their job well. No towell animals
but we understand that they're not a requirement. We were poiled last year b/c we got them every day in Alligator Bayou. The one thing the bugged me a little was that one day we returned to the room to find the TV Cabinet open, and when I turned it on, it was on one of the spanish stations. I don't know why, but the idea of someone hanging out in my room watching TV when they should be working, just kinda bugged me. At least put the TV back to the channel it was on beforehand, so noone will know.
The place could use a fresh coat of paint, but other than that, I still can't believe this place is only a moderate.
If ya have any questions, just give a yell.
