Just want to say.... this is a bit discombobulated...... no reall time to write things out clearly! LOL But you should get the idea.... :teeth:

My trip was great! The flights were very hard!! I will never ever ever in a zillion years fly alone with kids so young! LOL Plus the connecting flights (which I made.......whew) just added to the whole stress thing._ The two carseat thing is what really made things hard........ but a lot of nice people helped me along the way. As what's her face (the same old time movie gal who said..... come up and see me sometime!) used to say....... I often rely on the kindness of strangers..._ or was that Liz Taylor........ hmmmmmmmmmmm__ :-)

Hilton Head Island is wonderful and the Disney Vacation club resort there is DIVINE!!!!! I cant rave enough about the staff and all the wonderful children's activities they have........ Painting crab catchers, then going crabbing........, Painting butterfly houses, painting real live dead fish and transferring the prints to shirts, movie nights, magic shows, treasure hunts for pirates loot, marsh walks (that Madeline went on without mommy!) I could go on and on! We cant wait to go back........ but Hubby and baby number three will be there also.

We stayed in a 3 bedroom Grand Villa (sleeps 12) with my best online bud...... Tam from the May 1999 moms board (also moved to the yucky web site), her sister, and Tam's four kids (9,6,3,1 1/2). The place was huge and didnt seem crowded at all! They took over the second floor, and we took the master bedroom.

The living room was huge! Woodburing fireplace........ Although when I called the front desk for wood, they delivers 9 huge logs and that's it. No kindling to get the logs started :(_ It was a comedy of errors trying to light a log...... a little tip, toilet paper rolls and paper towels are not enough to light a huge log! LOL

The feature pool was not heated enough for my taste.... Or a lot of other peoples taste. Esp since it was a bit chilly...... but the kids didn't seem to mind. So nothing really lost.

Weather............ Tuesday (our arrival day) it was raining so hard you could barely see the hood of the car. Plus huge puddles would wash up over the car....... very hard/slow driving..... took 1 1/2 hours from the SAV to Hilton head._ So if it is raining drive carefully!

It rained a lot the first three days, but it was warm, and the rain was intermitant so we still got to enjoy the pool and other activies.... :) But we didnt hit the beach until Friday when the sun came out. The down side was, due to all the rain the flies we BEASTLY and around 530 they chased us off the beach. We are all still scratching (a week later) I heard from other guests that bug spray worked to keep they away, alas we had none :(

My only peeve about HH is there is no place that delivers Milk at night. It was raining so hard on our arrival I didnt want to get the kids soaked by stopping at the store.... so I figured I would just order pizza in..... along with some milk.... Called all the places on the list they provided at check in and not one of them would deliver milk.. .... I asked if they served milk there.... yes, so then why not deliver it.... Nope..... no way...... :-( So off to the store we went...... all soggy........ ::::::: sigh :::::::::::::

All in all a great trip...... We cant wait to go back, but this time we will stay longer.... at least a week..... it was sooooooo relaxing!!!

Wow,

It does sound like you had a good time. I'm happy for you!!.

I find that all I have to do is read about wonderful vacations that my neighbors have, and it seems to put a smile on my face. We're living vicariously through you.

I agree Hilton Head it an absolutely wonderful place. Is it too soon to be getting anxious about next summer allready?

Thanks for the report!

When I know ya for over 4 years and we share talk about cervical mucus.... sure! :teeth:

As for the morning sickness.... it is almost gone, but now I have yucky antibotic sickness due to an UTI :(

Ah well..... nothing that about 6 more months wont cure :D

Doesn't HH have one of those little shops like all of the other DVC resorts have? You know the one that sells milk, cereal, frozen items, and snacks? It seems odd that they wouldn't being so far away from other places.

Does HH have a Sunday brunch that serves those crab cakes? My best discription of a Disney resort, is by the food they serve. I really loved Vero's Sunday brunch.

I never realized the flies were so bad there. That sounds just awful.

Anyway, it sounds like you did OK, and had a great time using your points. I can't wait to go there myself. DH and I have been talking about it for years, but just keep going back to the World. And I'm not complaining :).

The flies were bad on Thursday after several days of rain.... maybe that is why... plus we were there in the late afternoon.

I was looking forward to reading your trip report and it sounds like you had a good time.:D
I would have thought a pizza place would deliver milk with a pizza. Good info to know because I just might have tried that. I wonder if you wanted a 6 pack of coke or beer if they would have accommodated you. Hmmm! Just might have to "ask" next time were there.
It is a great resort. I'd love to stay in a GV...I bet it would feel like my family wasn't even there. Maybe someday when DS2 gets a bit bigger and isn't always seeming Mommy out!

Oh yes.... beer and coke I could have gotten...... but no milk! ARGH!

IF that ever happens again, or to anyone else who might be in the same situaation. Just ask very nicely at the front desk and explain your situation.

When we arrived at Vero, it was 11pm and nothing there was open for a meal, even the store was closed, but the very nice front desk person opened the store for me :). She said that she worked the night shift and had to do it all the time for people. She also said that the day/evening workers won't do it "because they don't understand what it is like" .

I too was expecting, and HAD to eat something. After our "Only 2 hours from Disney World Drive" turned into a 3 1/2 hour ordeal. I wasn't expecting the place to be in the middle of no-where with nothing open and nothing to eat.

But, alas it turned into a great vacation, and we are eager to go back.
