Hello all!! Its been months since I posted. The Dis app stopped working on my phone and I rarely use the computer for fun. Anyways, I'm back posting. Hope everyone is well.
We just got home from a magical trip. We finally took the plunge and bought annual passes!
Did anyone else have trouble with not being at Disneyland?! I feel like since we have passes we should spend every free minute in the parks. Its very tempting to make the four hour drive just to sit on Main Street for an hour!!

I know how you feel. I just got my first AP a week and a half ago and I feel like it's burning a hole in my wallet! I want to use it as much as possible, so have planned imaginary one day trips only to bring myself back to reality. My DH thinks I'm nuts!
Enjoy your AP!!

If you live in Nevada, how were you able to purchase annual passes?

Anyone can buy an annual pass. I live in Australia and have an annual pass. The only restricted passes are the So-Cal annual passes, which are discounted passes for locals only. They wouldn't suit me anyway, due to the large number of block-out days.

My annual pass has had a huge impact on my life. I've been heading to LA for work far more than I really need to ;-)

We didn't purchase the SoCal resident passes. We got the deluxe passes. How I would love to be able to get the SoCal deal!!

I thought you lived in Nevada. I take it you live in California now.

lmao ......never mind. Momentary confusion from too much sugar. :faint:

I actually forgot that. Lol
It doesn't make much sense to me though, for people that live far away to have an AP.

No such thing as too much sugar:sunny:
We do live in Nevada. We make it out to Disneyland 3-4 times a year, and with the pass we figure we will get there at least 7 times. For us, we dont mind the 4 hour drive. We usually drive out the night before, do one day at the park and then drive home the next day. Now we can tie in a quick park visit when we are in So Cal for the beach or touring LA.

Yup, I live in Phoenix and my family has AP's because I know it's cheaper to buy that than to get individual PH's for the number of trips we will definitely make.

A 4 hour drive? I would have been there several times in the past few months. We got our APs in December and haven't been back since. We're almost a 4 hour flight away. We are planning to go back this fall. It seems like forever. :)

We are AP holders and live in Colorado. We were planning 2 visits for the year, and financially it was cheaper to get the AP when you consider the discounts that come with it. Of course or 2 trips have turned into 3. We need to get our money's worth while we have the AP (right?). Our APs expire in July, so we are even planning one more trip in June - so I guess the 2 planned trips will really turn into 4! :cool1:

It's funny in a way, because you can live out of state, and it can actually take less time to arrive in So Ca in comparison to coming from Northern Ca.

Actually, it can make a lot of sense depending on how many times you are planning to visit and for how long. We live in the Bay Area, and it's a six hour drive. A little more, actually, as we have young kids so we stop for a break. With two visits planned for the upcoming year, an AP made financial sense.

Since we got it, we will make good use of it and go for several weekend trips as well (made one in March before the blockout dates for the deluxe AP). But even if we didn't, it would still have been financially a better choice than buying tickets separately for two visits.

Yes we feel the same way. We are in Seattle and will plan trips like crazy when we have current passes because it "feels" free! LOL! Last year DS went 5 times. I haven't been since our passes expired in September and I am DYING to go to Disney. We went to Aulani for a big family celebration in January. I thought I'd be ok skipping out usual Disney trip and I have done really good keeping my mind on other things... until now! Our spring break plans just fell through so we are thinking of going to the Memorial Day Weekend 24 hour - 60th kickoff. And because that means getting new AP's I'm sitting here marking off up to 5 more trips this next year.

Seriously, it's an addiction that only people with AP's can understand! LOL!

We're in NorCal, a 6 hour drive away, and got APs for dh & I last fall because it was cheaper than PHs for the 3 trips we had planned. Now, because we have APs, we're heading to DLR tonight as a surprise spring break trip for the kids, and getting their APs since we're now planning on a couple more trips :). Granted, our trip this week will only require one hotel night & not be on-site, which is how I justified it to dh :)

How great you got APs! The thought has crossed my mind, but we're just not going to be able to to go (well, we could, but I'm very guarded with my finances and I want to buy myself a new car outright next year, so...) often enough for it to be a good deal for us.

Speechphi - See that's how it works! It would be so fun to live closer with AP's and be able to go for more events and holidays. But over the years with our AP's we have done most of them. Those AP's for sure burn a hole in your pocket!

We live in CA and had the SoCal AP's in 2013. We used them quite a bit and got our moneys worth out of them. Our mistake was that we didn't renew and now that is the only way you can get them. So our son asked us last year if he saved the money for his AP would we pay for ours. We waited and bought the APs the day before the price increase(thanks to the info on the Disboards!). We bought the Deluxe APs because we don't like all the blackout dates on the SoCal Select. Because the new APs are so much more expensive, we have already gone twice for a couple of days a piece, already have hotel ressies for the 24-hr event, and will go more times throughout the year! We live a little over 3 hours away.
