READERS BEWARE: this is kind of long! :) Just a warnin'!

We were on the dining plan and I have to say I was very impressed...For the MOST part. I was worried before we went that it would be too much food, but believe it or not we used ALL of our CS, snacks, and table services. I think that's amazing and I'm still in awe because we're both pretty tiny people. My only complaint with the dining plan apparently is a common one. After 11am, check out time, our dining plan cards WOULD NOT work. So everytime we used a CS or snack yesterday, they had to call our resort and make sure we had credits left. That was a pain because it took about a half hour each time. I called and complained and was told it was a common problem. One other thing, we had seperate reservations since we are DVC members and at first Sunday was not available, but then we got Sunday but it was still two separate reservations. The dining plan started over on Monday since it was a new reservation (which threw us for a loop :confused3 ) and then to make matters worse they charged us two separate times! I had some issues with SSR, but I'll mention those in my trip report.

In any case, first night Kona Cafe. I was really excited to eat here because the last time I did was in 2000 when I stayed at the Poly and everyone here RAVES about the Kona so I had to try it. How do I put this...It was a DISASTER! Our server was terrible, she barely ever came to our table. I order the filet and DBF ordered prime rib. Both were VERY done well (when we asked for medium rare), mine was actually burnt. So DBF starts eating his and mentions it tastes weird and next thing I know as I'm looking around for the server to take mine back and redo my filet, I look at my DBF who's white as a ghost and holding his hand over his mouth. Luckily the bathroom wasn't TOO far. So terrible experience, I didn't even get my filets redone, we just left. I will never go back to Kona again, even if it was just a bad day that they were having, I can't take that chance again. Needless to say I talked to the manager, payed for our drinks and apps. and didn't use a TS. He provided great customer service and I thanked him profusely for that. While the waitress brushed off my request that we had to leave, he asked if there was anything he could do and gave me a sprite to bring to my DBF. He was wonderful!

The next day was a MUCH better day eating wise, probably the best. We ate at Mexico for lunch, I had the nachos and DBF had the combo platter. It was surprisingly very good and I was happy we used a CS there. For our TS that day though, we had Le Cellier and OH MY GOSH was it good! DBF and I both ordered the infamous cheddar cheese soup, with the pretzel bread they give you along with the soup you could have your meal right there! DBF had the filet and it melted in your mouth. I went out on a limb (which is odd for a picky eater!) and ordered the chicken and it was the best chicken I've EVER had. It was pure and white and so good with the cream cheese potatoes. Onto dessert which I had a tough time looking at I was so full. DBF had the maple creme brulee and LOVED it, actually could not stop talking about it for the rest of the trip. I had a wet triple chocolate cake and it was great also, but I didn't have mine til late that night at the hotel because I was so stuffed I got mine to go!

Tuesday was the day I was looking forward to the most. For lunch we split a burger from the Commissionary which was very good. For dessert we had the strawberry with yogurt and granola. That was pretty good. For dinner though, we used 2 TS's and ate at the Brown Derby, or the shangrila! :rotfl2: I loved the BD and will be going back for sure next trip. For the app. we got the infamous Cobb salad. I LOVED the Cobb Salad, it was so neat how the lettuce was chopped so finely and the salad taste was so good I ate mine and part of DBF's. For the entree, I had the roasted pork tenderloin. It was SOOOO good. The melted cheese fondue on top was amazing and added just the perfect touch. DBF got the filet with the honey dijon potatoes. It also was very good, but the potatoes were very dijon-y. Just make sure you are ok with a strong taste. For dessert, again DBF got the creme brulee and I ate the WHOLE grapefruit cake and it was AMAZING. I definitely will be going to the BD everytime I venture to MGM now.

Since we had an extra table service from our disaster at Kona Cafe, we decided to eat at Chefs de France. It was DBF's idea and I have to say I'm glad we tried something new because the desserts were SO good. For an appetizer, DBF order the cheese plate and we could not stop eating it! It was so good. I just got a regular house salad with balsamic vinegar, it was good but nothing extraordinary. For entrees, I got Lasagnes de lgumes du soleil l'huile d'olive au thym or veggie lasagna. It was very good, just very filling so I could not eat very much. DBF got the ham, cheese, and tomato sandwich, it was also good. Dessert was the VERY best part. I got the puffs with vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce (no almonds). I stuffed myself full until I literally could not eat another bite. It was AMAZING. DBF got the sorbet which was also AMAZING. I would definitely recommend Chefs de France for AT LEAST dessert. Plus our waiter was rather dreamy  ...Er, I mean... :teeth:

To wrap up some of our CS, we ate at the Tusker House in AK. It was SO good, especially for a CS. We split the chicken and were very satisfied with eating half of the chicken sandwich, it was HUGE! Had Cosmic Rays yesterday, it was a TON of food, but it was just average. Columbia Harbor House which I love was not very good at all this time, I think they were just having an off day. :confused3 Also I didn't have a problem making any ADR's while I was there for Chefs de France, but Thursday in the MK I noticed they had no ADR's left. Thursday was a very crowded day everywhere, you could tell the crowds were starting to roll in for the weekend. Anyway, any questions or comments are welcome! :thumbsup2

Thanks for your review.
I've never gone to Chefs, maybe I should try that on my next trip.
And I wonder about Ohana's servers.
Mine was a bit lapsed too when I was there last week...
He took my order and didn't come back for another 10mins to refill my water and then another server came with the food. The original server didn't come back for another 20 min after that...
hmm...

Sorry to hear about Kona's - its usually one of our favorites! Glad you had a great trip though, and we'll definitely have to try Chefs de France again!!

Thanks for heads up about credits and check out time. I have to pay one meal oop and you have made that decision for us which meal it will be. Thanks. And great reviews -- you have convinced me on the BD.
