Just got back 1 hour ago and here's where we ate - very few PS.

Sit downs: Cape May Clam Bake, Plaza Restaurant, Sci Fi Drive In, Rainforest Cafe (Animal Kingdom), Chefs de France, Cape May Character Breakfast, Fort Wilderness Breakfast Buffet, Yacht Club Galley

Counter Service: Casey's, Evergreens, Backlot Express, America Pavilion, French Bakery for sandwiches, Fantasmic Theater, Pecos Bill's, Pizza at the Boardwalk, Toy Story Pizza Planet, Starring Rolls Bakery, Commissary (Breakfast),

Several days just had pop tarts or muffins in the room.

I'd be happy to answer any questions.

No rush, but any details on Chefs de France would be terrific. We're eating there on Christmas day w/the Candlelight Proc package so I sure hope it is fantastic!

Wow, looks like lots of great eating there! What was your impression of Sci Fi Drive-in? Yacht Club Galley? And Cape May Character Breakfast?

Welcome home!

I'm looking foward to hearing about some of your dining experiences. :D

I'm also interested in your opinions of France.

And do a lot of folks eat at the Fantasmic show? I'm always afraid to not eat before Fantasmic, in case this place is flooded with people.

What and where is Evergreen. Thanks.

Evergreens is the "sports bar" at Shades of Green. They no longer check for ID on the bus. What a great variety for a lunch or quick dinner. I had the philly cheese steak with melted cheese and peppers and onions for $6.99 - excellent!. Others in our party had the rib eye steak sandwich on a kaiser roll which they all thought were good, chicken strips and cheese fries. Also had buffalo wings - very good and an order of nachos. There were eleven of us and with refillable soft drinks and 2 bottles of beer, the bill was $108 - so you can't beat that. They also have pizza, barbecue chicken sandwiches, club sandwiches, hot dogs, etc. There were about 15-20 choices on the menu - can't remember them all but everything was very, very good and great prices. We went there from the Magic Kingdom so we took the monorail (or ferryboat) to the TTC and transfer to the bus directly to Shades of Green. When you get off, they had a host there so you can ask how to get to Evergreens as this restaurant is at the back of the hotel by the golf course. WE will definitely go there again!

Thanks for the explanation. Were you staying at SOG? Is it open for everyone?

We ate at Chef's de France for lunch - French menu (French onion soup, grilled ham, tomato and cheese, small salad and creme brulee) is excellent value for lunch at $14.95. Love the French onion soup and creme brulee. I had the onion soup and as my meal I had an appetizer - the Alsacienne Tart - to die for. It is about 10" diameter with carmelized onion, bacon and creme fraiche. Very, very good. If dinner is on par with lunch, the food will be excellent.

Sci Fi is basic lunch food. Woud not do it for dinner food. Burgers were big and good with fries. Ruben sandwich was also good. Milk shakes are good and thick. It is a nice atmosphere if you have kids and have never been there. While the glow in the dark ice cubes are nice - beware - $5.99 each. That can really add to a bill. Burgers run about $10.50 each.

Yacht Club Galley Breakfast was very good as usual. More quite than Chef Mickey's. Characters that came to our table were Minnie, Goofy and Chip in their swim suits and they spent plenty of time with us. Got some great pictures. Dale must have called out sick that day because he usually comes to the table and they have Minnie standing at the entrance, but not the day we were there. Food was very good. This buffet is kept very clean. Plenty of fresh fruit, Mickey waffles, pancakes, strawberry sauce, whipped cream, bagels, muffins, tons of Krispy Kreme donuts, french toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, hash brown patties (like McDonalds), omelette, all kinds of cereal, and a parfait bar with yogurt, and the fixings. We always do this for a character breakfast.

Yacht Club Galley - The word isn't out on this one yet as it was empty when we were there for dinner which suited us just fine as we were there with our friends who live near Disney so we could have a nice dinner and catch up with them. That night there were 9 total. I had the crab cakes as an appetizer - very, very good. Dinner choices we had were half of roasted chicken - must have been good because all I saw at the end were bones. I had the the penne pasta with sun-dried tomatoes, mushrooms, peppers, broccolini and asiago cheese. Very tasty but no way could I finish it and I can eat!!! My BIL had the filet which he they over cooked slightly so they took his meal off of our bill. Others had the pork chop (12 ounces) - all that was left was the bone. They all loved it. Our bill, with soft drinks for 9 was around $200. WE would go back again although I thought the past dish they had on the menu was better. We also suggested they bring back the chicken pot pie which was to die for and the cheesy bread. Good food - no wait.

Will definitely return to all of the above except Sci Fi as we will not be travelling with children. If you stick with lunch items there it is not bad and the atmosphere is great. We traded off Brown Derby for Sci Fi this time.

One other comment I would like to make is about the Clam Bake. We had the best server there (Pui) and the chef was very accommodating. We love steamed clams plain with butter. In the buffet they are seasoned with a garlic butter. We asked for ours plain and the chef and Pui brought to our table 11 heaping bowls of clams. When we got in line again he pointed to us and shook his head no and sent over another round of plain steamed clams. Needless to say we were stuffed, but very pleased with our service there.

Any other questions, let me know.

My sister was at SOG, I have stayed there before and were required to show room ID. You do not need to show ID now - open to everyone. Great place, great prices!!!!! The only place we could not buy was at their BX store.

Wanted to try the Italian restaurant they have but couldn't fit it in our schedule. The prices are excellent and the menu sounds delicious. Check out www.allearsnet.com for the menu and prices.

Go for it!!!!

SOG (Hotel) is open only to DOD and Military (active, reserve, retired). It's on WDW property that has been leased to the DOD for 100 years and the DOD owns the building. It recently underwent a renovation and we'll be staying there again next fall.

I'm pretty sure all the restaurants are open to everyone. I do know to buy alcohol in the AAFES store onsite you have to show ID. I'm not sure about the restaurants alcohol policy though.

The golf courses surrounding SOG are owned by WDW and are definitely opened to everyone.

Thanks for the heads up on being able to get the Clams plain. My 5yr old neice loves clams but wouldn't eat them here because of the seasoning. I'll let her parents know! Thanks for sharing.
