Baby wearing in summer

Hi everyone! We are just toying with the idea of making a trip in July or August and we will have our then 16/17 month old with us (and our older DS 11). We went in December when he was 9 months and my husband and I both wore him quite a bit (we also had a stroller that we used too). I wear him a good amount but we live in the Northeast and I am not sure if summer will just be too crazy hot and humid to do this comfortably. We used our Lilebaby all seasons in December and probably would do the same in summer. Being able to wear him was a big part of why we had a successful and enjoyable trip last year and I am not sure if I'd want to pay for another trip if I'm going to have a cranky hot toddler the whole time. (I will add also that my extended family is planning a big family trip for everyone next May/April but that is basically forever away in "waiting for Disney time").

It's hot in august we went a couple weeks in but there were shops that had air conditioning we popped into to cool off. My kids were 6/10. If your up in the air I would wait until the big family trip.

our daughter and granddaughter who was 4 months at the time, both found it too baby wear. baby was very cranky wearing and we are from Pa. we had a 4.5 year old besides and the double stroller was where ours spent most of time. plus with rain showers most days. not sure about Disney's policy on ponchos completely covering baby. know some places that will not let you wear baby under one. if you do trip I would be very sure to have rain cover that allows child to ride with it over the stroller

We often go in October and it's still very hot then. It is doable, but I do try to baby wear during the am and pm and try to use the stroller more during the afternoon when possible. We also normally do a sit down dinner so air conditioning for 1.5 or more hours. Also when I do need to baby wear during hotter periods of time I use a cooling towel between me and baby. There are many places to go in to cool off when needed.

I used to wear my babies in the hot weather in a light cotton sling. I know they also make mesh and linen... It has to be breathable or you guys will roast.

I haven't learned how to use a sling yet but that is another great idea... I definitely have time to learn

I babywear all my kids in the south year round. You can wear in the heat, but I'd recommend having a cool rag with cool down with, standing in the shade, frequent ac stops, etc. A carrier with a mesh panel might provide some help, but the temperature difference is usually minimal versus a solid panel. Buckle carriers tend to have more layering then a light woven wrap or single layer ring sling. I personally took a size 2 woven wrap. I used it for hip carries, back carries, a nursing cover when needed, a blanket to hide under when my 3 year old got scared on a ride or in a show, something to sit on when resting on the grass, a changing pad, a towel after a quick rain shower, etc

Don't forget that your stamina may be different in the heat than when it's cooler. My son will be 17 months next week and I never wear him any more. 30 lbs just feels too heavy to me. I can't imagine trying to wear him when it's 100+ degrees out. I don't think I could do it.
