Baby Shower Ideas

Hi. I am throwing a baby shower for my Sister in Law at the beginning of August. The nursery theme is Disney's Circle of Life -- we really wanted to stick with that theme throughout the shower, but I am having trouble finding anything (paper products, decorations, etc.) to go with it. Is there anyone out there that can help me? Any ideas would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Dnut,

Perhaps not so much with the theme idea, but a favorite of mine when it comes to guest favors. Wrap votive candles in pink and blue tulle, secure with coordinating ribbon and attach the following poem:

Here is a candle for you to light,
when the stork has has made his flight.
With the flicker of its flame,
please say a prayer in baby's name.

If you cannot find paper goods and things for that theme, use solid colors that coordinate...maybe use plush simba as decorations, find animal prints, etc....

i also like cookie cutters, shaped like the animals from the lion king, tied with ribbons and a sweet message. For my sister we wrote, A mothers love is like a freshly baked cookie. Sweet, warm and always Welcome.

At a wedding shower I had (disney themed again) for my sister-in-law we used those decoration trees. You can get them close to holidays at the Dollar store that you hang ornaments on. Then we bought Disney ornaments and hung them onto the trees. A small mirror underneath with a dash of Mickey head confetti and it was really beautiful. Then she can use the ornaments on her own tree in the future.

this is an example of a display tree, although i bought mine from the disney store and they were solid metal in silver. I think you could paint the pots to match your theme or try to find the other kind that I used. I bet maybe a dollar store might have them.

Many thanks to all for the great ideas! I will keep them all in mind. My sister in law is not a big Disney fan (GASP!) , only a fan of the Lion King/Circle of Life collection, so I will have to be careful how much Disney I throw into the shower. Thanks so much.
