I was invited to a coworker's baby shower this weekend. I wasn't able to go as I'm sick and didn't want to get anyone else sick.

I'm still planning to get her a gift. One of the things I'll be doing is creating a name canvas for the baby that is themed to fit the room. Sort of like this below, but baseball themed, since their room is sports themed.

Beyond that, I am thinking of getting her something smallish. We've only worked together about a year, so I don't plan to get her a big gift in addition to the canvas. Does that seem reasonable? I can't afford to get her a huge gift and most of the items for the canvases I had/got from Michaels on clearance.

I think what you are giving is more than generous and anything personal or handmade is better anyway!!

I have to disagree about the gift. If it was a close friend or family member, and you brought it up to them first, and they loved the idea, great. But first time moms tend to have pretty specific plans for their nurseries. That is a lot of work, and takes up a lot of space. It's like buying someone art - it's pretty hard to do.

This gift is really liked by them. It is one of the most important things that a baby and the mom want to have and needed by the baby. I have gifted a carry cot to my sister at her baby shower and she liked it very much. Diaper bags, clothes nappy, sipper, bottle, toys, clothes are some more gift items for which people generally registry for baby shower wishing well.

It is beautiful but I have to agree it would not have fit in with my daughters room, I had every inch of that planned and done before my shower.

I personally would love it. If she doesn't have wall space right away, it could be used later or maybe used in a play room, etc. If you feel it will be appreciated, give it proudly. I agree, this is plenty to give as a gift.
