I'm in the planning stages of my son's 1st year SB and I've decided that going in order from month 1 - 12 is just not the way to do it. But, then again I don't want to have it be random pages in no particular order or format like my last SB. How has everyone here put their child's Sbs together? I was thinking maybe having sections like holidays, trips, or family? Any ideas would be helpful, thanks!

What type of album are you using? That can help a lot...If you are using a CM book (which I what I used) you can buy their baby pages. They really are very nice and can give you a nice base to work from.
If it is top loading then you can work in a 2 page spread lay out and when all the pages/year is done you can then move them around as you you see fit.
What I did I kept it close to being in order. But I do have several pages that are just fun cute baby pictures. Like a Belly time...Beautiful head control. etc....
Hope that helps!

Actually I thought the complete opposite of you and did it chronologically!! That's the beauty of scrapping-everybody has their own taste and yet every album turns out great!:D
I started with the sideshots of me pregnant and put something about wondering if you'd be a boy or girl... Next pages were in the hospital, meeting the grandparents, and then coming home. Then I did each month but each month was several pages long. For instance when our son was 10 months old I have the different layouts of him with favorite toys, rolling around, and with his sister, etc... But I also have his First Christmas layout as well, then went into the 11th month.
At about 6 months we have the eating of vegetables but also his first big trip.
My dd's album was done the same way. I had one 2 page layout of her eating cheerios in her highchair. Nothing particularly exciting but she looked so cute! I titled it "Beautiful blue eyes". I am, however, a completely "have to do it in order" kind of scrapper. ;)
