DH and I (and 2 DisFriends) plan on going to Disney in October, traveling the first time with a baby, who will be 3 months old. Obviously, we know that this trip will be much different than previous ones, but we still have a few questions.

1. This is the one that everyone will think I'm absolutely nuts on....is it possible to tour Disney with no stroller at all? :confused3 We have a stroller that we plan on bringing, but we really don't want to use it in the parks. We don't plan on staying all day in the parks, but rather shorter time blocks in less busy / hot times of day. DH has a front carrier that he plans on using, and I have a Maya wrap that I plan on using.

2. Will restaurants allow small strollers inside? This is about the only place we were considering bringing the stroller to with us, since she will obviously be too little to sit in a highchair.

3. When making ADR's, do we say 4 adults + 1 baby, or just say 5. I don't know if this makes a difference or not. I would think that if she's sitting in a carrier taking up a seat, it might be considered 5, but if she's just in a stroller it would still be 4.

Any tips or advice on traveling with a little one, would be greatly appreciated. We do know about the Baby Care Centers, because we made sure to check them out on our last trip.

Not sure. I know my little one doesn't like to be in his sling or front carrier all the time, but if you are only going for short periods of time, you may be able to do it.

Yes. What a lifesaver when the little one is asleep and you want to go eat!

They have always counted everyone in our party.

Leaving Friday with a 3 month old. I will let you know how it goes!:thumbsup2

My oh my, I saw your thread and I just HAD to respond...

I took my DS when he was 9 months old, we stayed for almost 2 weeks and let me tell you that the front carrier will be a lifesaver. Beleive it or not, I did not bring my stroller with me at all and I came from Canada :) I outweighed the pros and cons of bringing it and I'll highlight some points

Pros of a stroller:

Pushing is ``easier`` than carrying
You can put things in the sti
orage basket
The baby can sleep in the stroller
You can move freely without having to put on or take off the carrrier

Ok, lol so here are the cons:

You have to push a stroller through crowds
You have to empty the storage basket every time you use transportation by bus (DTD, HollywoodS, Resorts if applicable, ect)
You have to park and leave the stroller every time you plan to go on a ride
You have to find your stroller and hope the CMs havent moved it while you were on the ride
Restaurants may not be very stroller accessible all the time
One more thing to haul around the whole trip
When the baby is sleeping you have to skip the ride or hope not to wake the baby if you have to take her out and bring her in the ride

IMO if the baby is small enough (ie 9months or less) I would definately say bring the carrier. With my son it was so easy not to have to deal with parking a stroller and all the hassle before and after a ride. He rode all the rides in the snugli carrier (most with me, some with his uncle) and it was a breeze. He also seemed to feel very ``safe`` being so close to me. If he was tired, he fell asleep, he woke up as he pleased, I nursed him whenever, wherever because he was already attatched to me. His father was not on the trip with us and it was not any burden to carry him at all. Once in a while his uncle (my brother) carried him and he said it was a fantastic experience with him in the carrier, like he had shared these special experiences with him. Also, a baby 3 months old will most always be asleep so it will just feel like the baby is still in your belly :)

My next trip will be a stroller trip as my DS will be over 15 months, but I will honestly reccomend that you take advantage of not needing a stroller yet. Everyone in my family will reccomend the same, my mother took us sans stroller when we were infants in her snugli and she said she would not have done it any other way (and she did it with all four of us). She told me she was even pregnant w her 2nd (my older brother) and had my older sister in the snugli and it was fantastic. PS. My DS was already over 18lbs!!!!!

I hope this helps :) Have a good time in DIsney!!!!!!!

I'd say make the decision closer to the time.

My guy doesn't really like the stroller, never has. Still, I liked having it in Disney because I could put all the "other" stuff in it - and babies have lots of stuff. But a front pack would have been just fine for us at that time (DH loves the mobywrap, I prefer my mei tei).

When I made reservations I always said 3 and a baby but that's what I do here, too. I *think* maybe some places have "infant highchairs" that are more reclined - kind of like the baby carseats. But I may be wrong about that.

Have a great trip!

My best friend, though, has a baby who will pretty much ONLY sleep in the stroller.

We are bringing our baby, who will 8 months at the same time...

Since your child will be three months, I'm assuming you have not given birth.

Our baby is 3 months old right now... Just some things we have noticed...

1) We bought several devices for our newborn that were barely used... because she didn't like them. Unfortunately, you don't know if the baby will like the sling until you try it out. Be prepared with a backup plan.

2) Florida is hot... and sunny. Your baby needs to be blocked from the sun. You can't put sunscreen on a 3 month old. My personal opinion is she will be MUCH better protected by a stroller with a canopy than in a sling or carrier.

3) Our 3 month old gets tired through out the day. If she can't nap, she gets REALLY cranky. Sometimes she gets overtired... she wants to sleep but is TOO TIRED to do so (Don't ask me WHY this happens, but it does... google for more details). Depending on how long you want to spend in the parks at a time, having a stroller might make life easier.

4) You can store stuff on the stroller, so you don't have to worry about carrying it.

Maybe look for a leightweight stroller to bring... obviously not an umbrella stroller, but something that she can lay down in or recline and won't weigh as much as a travel system.

If you are bringing your car seat, I'd suggest the Baby Trends Snap and Go. Its really lightweight and you can pop the whole seat right in there. So much easier than stroller systems. Something like that might be good for the parks.

I have always taken a stroller. I have used both a stroller and a carrier, but never just a carrier.

2. Will restaurants allow small strollers inside? This is about the only place we were considering bringing the stroller to with us, since she will obviously be too little to sit in a highchair. I have even brought double strollers in many restaurants. Never have been told no.

Our twins were 3 months old last trip and did very well the entire time.
