Baby Dexter & Emmie's Disney Trip w/ lots of pics COMPLETED!!!

You left today! How did I possibly miss this trippie - it is so cute. Dexter is the cutest thing ever. The costumes - ADORABLE! I love that idea, I will definitely do that when I have kids! CONGRATS ON THE PREGNANCY! Jeeze, how much more excited could you get in one week! :rotfl: A Disney Trip, a new baby, an already adorable son - your living the good life! :goodvibes Have a great trip - we will be there thr 13th - 23rd so I will look out for you and your dressed up little one! :goodvibes

Well we are back and I'm not sure if I'll be writing a TR anymore. The trip itself was nice but the last day right before we loaded the 'magical express' I realized i was bleeding... turns out I am most likely having a miscarriage. :sad1: we reschedule our flight to leave the next morning and went to the hospital. They did an ultrasound and found the sac where the baby should have been but there was no baby to be found. After leaving the hospital (5 hours later) we tried to get a hotel and there was no vacancy anywhere... some sort of car race, Daytona 500 going on. So we had to sleep at the airport! We got to the airport around 11:30pm the flight didn't leave until 7:05am and I was very hungry, hadn't eaten since around 1:30. Nothing opened in the airport until 4:30am!!
We got home yesterday and I went to my doctor today... he said that it didn't look good since I was still bleeding and that at 7 weeks they should have seen something in the ultrasound. I'll be going back on Thursday to have another ultrasound to find out for sure... but it seems like they really are just looking to see if everything is clearing out on it's own...

Anyways maybe in a few days I'll post some pictures and maybe I'll even decide to write my TR after all... but as of right now I am just trying to forget the last few days.

Sorry for the downer... just didn't want you all to wonder where I went.

Aww, so sorry your trip had to end like this! Coming back to the real world is hard enough as it is, it's much worse to come back to something like that! :grouphug:

Natale, just wanted to let you know that you and your family are in my prayers. Sending a hug your way.

Well it definitely was a miscarriage... turns out it was something called a blighted ovum. I guess that is where the developing baby has so many genetic problems that it stops developing. I went to the hospital last Friday for a D&C. I'm mostly back to normal and feel a lot better. This baby was just not meant to be and we will try again in a few months.

OK TIME TO MOVE ON....

So I was feeling really bad about our recent trip and Disney in general, then I started to read every ones TR again and got motivated to start ours. I almost need to do this so I can remember how much fun I had and not just think about the last few days.

I will post the first day shortly. :woohoo:

Day One -

We woke up at 3:30 to drive over to my DB Mike's house. We were leaving our car there and his DMIL was driving us to the airport. All of our years playing Tetris really helped us load the minivan up with all of our luggage!! :thumbsup2

We arrived the recommended two hours before our flight. This gave us plenty of time to check in and get through security. It also gave me time to look in my bag and figure out that I forgot my camera! :confused3 Me and DH Shawn also grabbed some breakfast for our family. I don't remember what the place was called, but they charged $4 for eggs and ham in between two pieces of toast. (oh well these will soon seem like a good deal once we get to Disney). We got settled in and thought we would be boarding soon, but then our flight got delayed!! 10, then 20, then 60 minutes!! (good thing we got there on time!)

Mike & Emmie.

So finally we were on our way. We were able to pre-board because we had the babies with us :) that was really nice since we were flying Southwest and didn't have assigned seats. I'm sure everyone was ticked that we got in the first row... but if you really want to be fare we were one of the first families there in the morning.

Dexter and Emmie did ok on the take off and seemed to enjoy looking out the windows. They were getting restless half way through the flight, it was now around 10am and Dexter hadn't slept since 3:45! He cried the last 15 minutes of the flight, we think he was having problems with his ears, but it seemed like every single baby was crying around then so who knows.

Once we landed we searched for the Magical Express. I was expecting someone wearing some over sized Mickey gloves to point our way, but we had to ask a airport employee. Finally we spotted the Disney Buses - - Well first we saw the Disney Cruise Line buses and Shawn said "we're at the wrong ones!" and I said, "how do you know maybe I am surprising you with a cruise?" he wasn't too happy when he found out I was kidding!! Once we checked in we were in the bus and on our way within 10 minutes. It was nice not to wait after the morning we had.

It didn't take long at all to get to POP.
DSCF0036.jpg

We checked in we both got rooms in the 70's building... it was soooo close to the main building!! We opted not to pay for a preferred location but it seems we had gotten one. (Disney Magic? :wizard:)

Our two families spit up for the evening. My brother and his family ate lunch at Pop, napped for awhile and then went to Epcot for dinner (Mexico I think, Emmie liked beans). We only had a 10 day park hopper and would be there for 11 days so we wanted to save a day for our last day just in case. We went to our room and unpacked, this is funny only because I have never unpacked on vacation before in my life!

We went to DTD, and ate at Earl Sandwich. I LOVE Earl of Sandwich but we must have being talking too loud on our last trip about how reasonable their prices where cause now the sandwiches are about $1 more expensive and instead of the soup or salad being a dollar extra they now are two bucks. Oh well, still good food, and still one of the best deals on Disney property. After we ate and made a quick lap around the marketplace we took a bus to the Wilderness Lodge. I hope we can afford it next time cause I would LOVE to stay there! Then we took a boat over to the Contemporary (my dream hotel if money wasn't and issue). We bought some candy, Dexter had a chocolate covered pretzel and Shawn had a Chocolate Mint smoothie. It's basically a HUGE Andy's candy... I mean HUGE like 3"x3"x2"! He ate the whole thing (well I took a little bite).
We then took a ride in the monorail to the Poly, we were able to ride in the front car. Dexter didn't' seem to interested cause he was still trying to suck all the chocolate off the pretzel. We took monorail to the Magic Kingdom to catch the bus back to POP. Once we got back to our room we decided to try out the water sprinklers... it was very cold (not Chicago cold, just too cold to play in water). After a few minutes of freezing we wrapped Dexter up in a towel and brought him back to the room. Time for a bath and sleep.

Tomorrow Magic Kingdom, Crystal Palace for BK, and haircuts.

I almost need to do this so I can remember how much fun I had and not just think about the last few days.

I will post the first day shortly. :woohoo:

:grouphug: I don't know what to say, other than I am very sorry for your loss. I hope that by doing your trip report you are reminded of the fun you had with your son and husband during your trip. I'm looking forward to hearing about your trip. Take your time and feel free to ask for :grouphug: 's if you need them!

Take care!
Margaret

Thank you for continuing your report. .:grouphug: for you and your families loss. Glad you are feeling a little better.

I loved your pre-trip intro-I love the old pictures and you did a great time line.

Day Two

We had a 6am wake up call. I had originally made breakfast reservations at the Crystal Palace at 8:05am thinking that the Magic Kingdom doesn't open until 9. We like walking down empty streets and taking pictures in front of the castle with no one in the streets. Once we got to Disney I found out that it was a Extra Magical Hours day so my plan didn't work out too well. :confused3 It didn't really matter anyway cause it was a very foggy morning and the pictures weren't really all that good.

Crystal Palace was OK, Dexter seemed to enjoy the charters, Emmie slept.

Tigger woke Emmie up. She almost missed the whole thing!
DSCF0067.jpg

Dexter liked Piglet, he just didn't like his hood.

We all decided that Breakfast wasn't worth that much money, none of us really ate enough food to justify the cost and the food wasn't anything amazing. Although Shawn did eat about $15 worth of cool whip. :yay:
(After that Breakfast I cancelled our Breakfast at Chef Mickey and tried to make dinner reservations for the rest of the week, we never were able to get them.)

After Breakfast we ran over to the Tinkerbell store to see if we could wake her up, Tinkerbell was already flying around but no big deal cause I don't think the Babies would have understood anyway.

Dexter & Emmie ready to get started!

Day Two continued...

Next we went to The Harmony Barber Shop on main street to get Emmie's First Hair cut.
DSCF0083.jpg

This barber shop is awesome!! If you have a baby that hasn't had his/her first hair cut yet - hold out for Disney!! For $14 you get the hair cut (they save snippets of hair for you) a certificate and a pair of Mickey ears with "first hair cut" embroidered on them. Amazing huh???

Emmie's new haircut & new hat.

DSCF0079.jpg

Dexter had gotten his first haircut the year before, so I wanted to get it cut again to keep up the tradition. The really cool part was that the same cast-member cut his hair two years in a row!
DSCF0087.jpg

This time we had them put in green gel/goo and pixie dust. So all day he had spiky green hair. (cutest thing ever)

Notice the hidden Mickey on the back of his head.

Their 'after' shot.

Next we grabbed Fast Passes for the jungle cruise and went on Pirates... So most of the time when Disney Changes a ride I'm not the happiest person (when the took the "living in the land song" off the end of the boat ride at the land and "tomorrows child" song off of Space Ship Earth Me and my brother were not pleased a all!!! :scared1: We still to this day sing out as loud as we can at the end of those two rides out of protest.)
Pirates on the other hand AWESOMES additions!!!! The coolest part of the whole thing was Davey Jones!! The whole ride also has a story line now, so that's great! :thumbsup2

Time for Dole!!! (or at least that's what we call it) This is something that we talk about for months before we go to Disney. It's sold at Aloha Isle but make sure you ask for it by its proper name Pineapple Float or Dole Whip Soft Serve .... cause if you ask for "dole" or "dole float" they look at you like your crazy.

After we were finished with our dole we went on the Jungle Cruise, it seemed like they filled every other boat with just FP people, so the FP line went really fast. Our guide was one of the best I have ever seen! It must have been the beginning of his shift, cause I do not know how you can keep up the enthusiasm he had about the back side of water all day long.

We grabbed a FP for Peter Pan and went on Small World. Our we had awhile before our FP so we walked over to Toon Town (you'll notice a lot on our trip that we do a lot of unnecessary walking around, next time I'll be planning a little better) ToonTown was way too busy so we walked all the way back to Peter Pan and used our FP.

Everyone started to get hungry so we went to Casey's to eat. Then we went to Mickey's Philharmagic, we weren't sure how Dexter was going to react but he seemed really to like it. He normally won't keep glasses (or hats) on his head but he watched the whole show with them on and flinched when "things" came flying toward him. Emmie didn't' seem to
like it all that much, when the water squired out she started to cry.

We hiked all the way back to Toon Town and met Donald, Chip & Dale, Daisey, and Mickey Mouse. Dexter wasn't really afraid of the charters but he didn't' seem to interested. Emmie on the other had loved them!! Her favorites seemed to be Chip & Dale. They kept on tickling her and she was cracking up!!!
DSCF0100.jpg

She's laughing... it just looks like crying.
DisneyPhotoImage146.jpg

This is the most Dexter would do for us.
DisneyPhotoImage142.jpg

DisneyPhotoImage137.jpg

We also rode, the people mover buzz light-year and I'm sure a few more that I just can't remember right now. Emmie just seemed happy about everything but not really enthused about anything. Dexter seemed to take everything in and then talk about it (in Dexter language and big gestures) later.

DSCF0112.jpg

Shawn seemed more excited to ride on a horse... so I just stood next to Dexter to make sure he didn't fall off.

DSCF0109.jpg

The magic kingdom has a great new baby sitting idea. :)

DSCF0108.jpg

Candy anyone?
Stephanie wanted to take the same picture with Dexter and the HUGE sucker, but we had to explain to her that Dexter wouldn't give it back.

By the end of the day we ended up at Pooh's Play Ground. Dexter LOVED it!! He wasn't that great at waiting his turn but got better at it by the end of the trip.

Michael, Steph and Emmie left us to go to the front of the Castle to get a good spot for the fireworks. Dexter wanted to play more so we let him, then just before the fireworks started we headed over to the back side of the castle right by Dumbo. I have never watched them from back there before, kinda cool. The only bad thing was that you had to keep on looking from one side to the other to see the whole show.

Back to the hotel for some sleep.

OK... two more pictures from the day... I mean HOW CUTE ARE THEY???

I have heard alot of stories like that recently. Thanks for sharing, it's nice to hear that other people have had happy endings.

Thanks everyone for reading... We just moved into a new place (after living with my parents for over a year... ekkk:scared: ) After recent events we realized we REALLY needed to be our own family. So we took the financial leap six months ahead of schedule.

So I'll be done packing by tomorrow... look for the next installment after that. :)
