Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

Thank you for the pictures!!! Between you and declansdad and anybody else that wants to add in, I think I can make it through the next three weeks! I just love the bright colors and the "aliveness" of Pop! This will be our first trip to Chef Mickey's, so we're looking forward to that.

Jill is coming up for the day, so I'm happy because I get to see her and my Brookie-baby. We will be hitting the Disney Store, because we can't be together and not go to the Disney Store. Brooklynn looks UP the whole time she is in there. She is fascinated by all the big figurines hanging above. We'll check back in later, and if there are more pictures (hint, hint) that will make the day even better!

PS - Do you know how annoying it is to have a key that sticks? My "m" has been ornery this morning. So, I've been typing stuff like orning, ake, and coing, and when I go back to read it, it akes no sense. (See what I ean?) Have a great Saturday everyone. (Good thing it's not onday, huh?)

mmmmmmmmm...I'm making it practice!

I will not be held responsible for my mother and her craziness. Please forgive her, she needs a vacation.

I am loving the POP pictures. If we only had 4, I would stay there in a heartbeat! :thumbsup2 Maybe when the kids are older we can do the 2 room thang?

So Memom and Brooklynnsmommy were together today and you should all know by now that means there were lots of pictures with that cute baby, lots of references to Disney, and lots of John rolling his eyes and acting like he is not with us.

So off to the mall we went for our Not so Disney Day.

Brooklynn ate lunch in front of the carousel, but it wasn't Cinderella's Golden Carousel.

DSC06178.jpg

Brooklynn stared at the white sand and blue water, but it wasn't the beach at the Poly.

DSC06182.jpg

Brooklynn tried to pick which cookie she wanted, but she wasn't at the Main Street Bakery.

DSC06184.jpg

We stopped to check out the candy, but it wasn't Goofy's Candy Company.

DSC06185.jpg

We found Ariel, Flounder, and Sebastian, but we weren't at The Voyage of the Little Mermaid.

DSC06186.jpg

We sat and watched the water, but it wasn't the Fountain of Nations.

DSC06189.jpg

We went and shopped and shopped, but we weren't at The World of Disney.

DSC06190.jpg

And there was a hidden MeMom sighting, but no, that fruity drink in her hand is not a Dole Whip.

Hope you enjoyed our not so Disney Day as much as we did!

Just in case you haven't found it, here is a link to the Pop Picture thread the MeMom is talking about.

Body Glide? Can I get it at a regular drug store? I am always getting blisters on my feet... I know this is off topic, but I just got my DME vouchers and luggage tags today... so excited :cool1: :cool1:

we used it on our trip and loved it! i got it at dick's sporting goods for $10. it's like a deodorant stick. we didn't even make a dent in it, so i'm sure we'll be using it on future disney trips!

Yeah, it just makes me smile to walk on the Pop property. I guess I will always be partial to it because I have such fond memories of our 2005 trip. It was a much needed trip, and we just had a fantastic time.

We're hoping to get two connecting rooms, but if we don't it won't be horrible, since we have mostly grown-ups. I just hope we're in close proximity of each other, at least. I requested the 50's Lady building just because I'm turning 50 while we're there, but that's no biggie either. I just thought it would add to the novelty of the trip, if they can do it.

punkin413 - That's good to know you had plenty of BodyGlide. Hopefully, our small tubes will be enough then.

betsywdw - Have fun at the Disney Store. I have to make myself stay out of there, or I won't have enough money left to take this trip!

:(( We don't have a Disney Store anymore :((

We haven't had one for several years now. It's so sad! And, look at all those SALE signs in that store! Did you get any good deals?!

I did order those Disney gift cards for my kids for our upcoming trip - they each came separate with a letter addressed to each kid. My message to each was "Buy whatever you want! We're going to Disney World!" I think they will be part of my big reveal on the way to the airport! An Enchanted Call and a $50 gift card to be spent at WDW - what more could a kid want!

You should make Brooklyn a Look and Find book - Find the hidden MeMom! :)

Glad you had such a nice day together!

Oh that's no good wingedheart....we have 2 within 1/2 hr drive, I think I may go to one on Tuesday. I guess where you live is not near Walden Galleria Mall, there is one in there isn't there? Maybe it is another one around there. I remember when my dh and I went shopping for the weekend there a few years ago.:confused3

Okay it is official we go to Disney World NEXT MONTH!!!!!!

So now I can begin my pre-trip report without feeling like I am still too far out for it to really matter.

Let me begin by explaining how this particular trip came about:

I went to Disney World a few times as a child. We stayed at my Grandmother’s in St. Petersburg and just drove to Orlando for the day. We went to Epcot when I was 12 and then no more Florida because my grandmother moved back to Tennessee. Fast forward 9 years, I am now 21 and engaged. My wonderful fiancé tells me I can pick anywhere to go for our honeymoon. I tell him Disney World! So at 22 years old I return to Disney. This time we are staying on property (Port Orleans Riverside) and we are on the dining plan (food, food, and more food). I loved every minute of my week there and could not wait to return.

Fast forward a year and a half later, my mom calls and says she wants to go on vacation (we had not gone on a family vacation since the trip to Epcot when I was 12). She said she works too hard and needs to feel like she gets a small reward every now and then.

She says “Let’s go to the beach.” :scared1:

I say “The beach?” because I have never been a let’s go lay out in the sun kinda girl.

“Yes. Let’s go to Destin. It isn’t that far. Check on hotel rooms and see how much it will cost.” (This is back when my mother knew nothing of the Disboards and therefore was computer illiterate except for checking her e-mail.)

I did some checking on rooms in Destin and Gulf Shores. I get prices together and then because I know that down deep my mom has a love for Disney that she needs to be reminded of, I get prices for the four of us (me, my mom, and my 2 brothers) for the same amount of time we were planning on going to the beach. I call her and tell her the price for the beach and then I tell her I found an even better deal that would include our hotel and all of our entertainment. She asks the price and I tell her. She says that is doable where would we be staying. That’s when I get all excited and started telling her of all the fun and the memories.

“It’s Disney World!!!!! We can stay at a value resort and go to all the parks. We could drive down there, park the car, and not touch it again until time to leave.”

She didn’t believe the price I quoted was for all four of us for a hotel and 5 day park hoppers. She knew it would be more expensive. So I walked her through how to do it on her computer and the price popped up. After a few moments of hesitation and disbelief she told me to book it.

We were on our way!!!!!

Well we had such a great time in July of ’05 that we decided to make it an annual trip. You will notice in my signature that there was not a July ’06 trip however. That is because I had to skip that trip because my doctor did not think it would be wise to sit in a car 10 hours to walk around for miles in the hot sun eight months pregnant. So last year my mom went to Disney without me so she could buy her first grandchild presents from the official Disney World.

So here we are June 1, 2007, we are 52 days away from our Blowout trip. The whole family is going for 10 whole days of Disney fun. We are celebrating my mom’s 50th birthday and Brooklynn’s first birthday while we are there.

Hi Brooklynn's mommie! I finally found my way to your TR! What a terrific beginning! I am working on reading through it tonight! popcorn:: Thanks for sharing!

Oh boy...you two just crack me up :lmao: :rotfl2: I wish I had someone close to me to share my love of Disney! I hope you all have a wonderful time and it looks like you are going back several more times...so the planning never ends! That little Brooklynn is sooooo cute! :cutie: Right before I went I did the same thing...this isnt quite Disney and that isnt quite Disney...:rotfl: funny stuff. Memom hope you got your "m" working, or else you would just be "eo" ;)

What would we do without a Disney Store, Jill? Probably we'd have more money in our bank account. On this day, I am proud to say, I restrained myself and purchased NOTHING! The trip is almost here, so I'd rather have something from the real Disney World than the Disney Store. Jill got Brooklynn some outfits to wear on the trip. When she messes up one outfit, she's going to have several back-ups for that day, believe me. Her mommy likes to shop as much as her Memom does.

The best part about the Disney Store visit was....they were playing the Soarin' music!!! I closed my eyes and told them to not talk to me for a moment, because my mind was gliding over somewhere else, even though my body was just in that store far, far away from Soarin'. They couldn't have picked a better song at a better time, because I love that ride! I suppose they did that just for us, because they knew it was our Not So Disney Day. Or it was just pure coincidence.

It is fun sharing our love of Disney, and it's even more fun being silly with it sometimes. We did have a good time together. With them being a couple of hours away, I don't get to see them as much as I'd like. Brooklynn changes so much from visit to visit. This time she was doing this little wrinkle up her nose deal when she was hamming it up. I took Jill to Florida when she was a little younger than Brooklynn is now, so all this is just flooding back memories of the fun we had then with her and the fun we plan to have with Brooklynn.

I'm still pounding on the "m". John says it probably has dust under it. I guess I need to take it and have it cleaned up.

declansdad and pooksma - I've been keeping up with your AKL worries. I know how much you were looking forward to doing this for Declan, so I really hope it all works out for you. A lot of people are saying it's only affecting certain sections of the resort, so I'll sure keep my fingers crossed that you'll still get to go with your plans.

Ladies, I just found this TR and I am enjoying it so much. LOOOOOVE the pictures of Brooklyn (and friend) as well as the rest of you. Looking at your DD I think I can visualize the missing memom! :rotfl: I especially enjoy this because my DD and I share the love of Disney, and of going there together. I did our TR but she posted occasionally as well. We are also huge PC fans after staying there for the first time in May. Here is the building we were in. It was the seventies, and it was great - with connecting rooms on the second floor.

Know what you mean about missing those grandbabies! DD is 7 hours away with her two. DS is an hour away with his two, and I just spent the day with them on Saturday. :goodvibes DD and her two will be here in a week.

Don't do what I did with the food. I copied and pasted the menus from every table service restaurant we had ADR's for, and all the counter service ones we were considering, and then printed it out and took it along. It was about 30 pages long, and I was the only one who really looked at it much. Then we would get to the restaurants and the menus would be different anyway! :lmao: Like you, I am a teacher, but a mostly retired one. I think that has something to do with our planning hangups! (Or is it OCD?) :rotfl2:

Anyway, I will be enjoying it with you. You have a wonderful Disney family, and I can tell there is a LOT of love there. Thanks for sharing!

Hope you enjoyed our not so Disney Day as much as we did!
I did! That was such a cute report! This Saturday I also went to the Disney Store. Here's what I posted on another thread . . .

Hey everybody! This Saturday, I went into the Disney Store to look at all the "kiddie" stuff, and noticed that people seemed to be anxious and scampering around. That's when I noticed that there was a sale going on. Mostly everything was marked down, and you got to take 40% off ot the sale price. I immediately got upset that they didnt sell adult stuff like they used to in the late 80's and 90's. Well, I looked at their hats thinking that I could fit one, when an employee informed me that they DID have some adult stuff. I bought a purple Tinker Bell hat for about $3.00, an "Island Girl" Minnie Mouse shirt - $12.00, Pink "Tikki Room" Minnie shirt - $5.00, and Vintage-looking Mickey Mouse shirt - $4.00. I was able to get 2 of them in extra-large, and one in large. If I dont lose enough weight for the large one, then I'll just sleep in it. After all, it was only $4.00.

So if you want some new Disney Tees for your trip, stop in!

Thanks MeMom. IT is kind of frustrating with all the different informatin that is floating around. I tend to go with "they are not closing, only calling to se if people want to move" scenario. Keeping are fingers crossed!

Memom -- You are so cute and creative when it comes to your writing. Love the mall pictures... :flower3:
