Baby and the Tramp...and a Pop (half) Century! Where Did It Go???

Memom I hope you are ok, wow it is very sad that they are acting out so violently at this age. Natalie would love to be in your class, I know cuz I was one of the lucky disers who got to personally meet with the memom clan (well most anyway) we hit it off right from the start and just kept the conversation going too bad it was so late in the night. I hope you have a good night and that the parents of the child are going to do something about this behavour(cant think of how to spell got a brain cramp lol). I know I would not be too happy if one of my children even thought of something like that!!!

So cool that you and Jill are going to Disney again for her birthday this time...my bd is March 6th just incase you are wondering!!!!!:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Take Care Talk soon!@

Good afternoon, everyone! My day started out happy with the news that Jill will let me take her to Disney World for her birthday in October.

Now I'll share with you one of the reasons I need to take breaks and have a happy place like Disney World. One of my students was upset with me because I took his morning snack away. The rule is that the children may have their snacks as they finish their independent work, and they must stay in their own seats. This child was doing neither of those, and was trying to knock over the water bottle of another student. When I walked over to throw his snack out, he took his pencil and used it to stab me, with quite some force, in the chest. Had it been a knife, it would have done some damage. Had it been at a student, it would have been about eye level, and could have done damage. The student was just picked up by his father to be staying at home for several days of suspension. I was told I could press charges, but declined. Problems get increasingly worse in our schools, but we keep fighting to do everything we can to meet state and federal guidelines, which are near to impossible. Anyway, he's gone and things are calm. Hopefully, he will come back a changed man, but the sad truth is, that is highly unlikely. He will probably be in and out of trouble many times in the future. My other students will have an exciting story to tell at home tonight. And I...will look forward to my October trip to Disney World to help me remain sane! Just wanted to share with you guys. If you can, tell a teacher how much you appreciate them today.

Oh My God !!!! I am glad that you are ok... How old was he? I know it probably does not matter - but I cannot believe how the world we live in is ever changing.
Thank God you are alright -
On a lighter note - Very excited that you get to book yet another Disney Trip _ I am thinking about doing a solo trip in March/April for four days (noone will come with me :sad2: )

All is okay, other than a bruise. I just hope he'll get the help he needs now that he has actually attacked someone. Teaching has an element of danger in it these days. Our school is 94% poverty level, so most of our kids have some issues of some kind or another.

I'm very excited about experiencing Halloween with Mickey and friends. I'll look forward to seeing the refurbished Haunted Mansion. Right now, I am searching for a safe, convenient place around Warner Robins, GA for us to stop, as that will be midway. We can get a few hours of sleep and take off early so we'll be ready to enjoy our short trip. Anybody know of anything right off the interstate? Safety is the number one priority, since it'll just be the three of us stopping around 11:00 at night and leaving in the a.m. very, very early. Where do any of you guys stop along that way?

More later, but I've got a lot to do right now, so I don't get to Dis much tonight. Thanks for all your kind thoughts today. I am truly glad it was no more than a pencil, and I'm especially glad it was not done toward another child.

Okay guys, I am not meant to write this section of the trip report. This is my third time typing this. The first time I typed for 25 minutes and then lost it. The second time I typed for 10 minutes and then lost it. So now I am typing in Word, that way I can hopefully recover anything that spontaneously disappears.

So third time is a charm, and on with the show…

We slept in today, a rare occasion on a Disney vacation. However, by the time we got ready to go we knew we would be pushing our 10:30 Chef Mickey’s reservation. Mom, John, Brooklynn, and I headed to the bus stop with Trent and Kristi promising they were walking out the door right behind us. We were almost to the main building when I realized we had forgotten Brooklynn’s cup. John ran back to get it and said he would meet us at the bus stop. When we got to the stop the line was already long. Trent, Kristi, and John showed up and were a good 15 families behind us. We started making our plans since we knew we would end up on different buses. When the Magic Kingdom bus got there we started loading and miracle of miracles these people knew how to load a bus! You know all the way to the back and fill all the seats and then all the way to the back and fill in the standing room space. Trent, Kristi, and John actually made it on the same bus with us. When we arrived at the Magic Kingdom the time was 10:15. John and I had walked to and from the Contemporary on our December 2005 trip and we knew that a lot of times it can be faster than the monorail. So making an executive decision we started speed walking down the path. We arrived at Chef Mickey’s with a minute and a half to spare. The check in line was backed up about 8 families. We waited for quite a while to check in.

P1080586.jpg

When we got to the front of the line we figured out the problem, they were training someone on the computer. Now I understand the need for training, but couldn’t they find a more appropriate place to train her first besides Chef Mickey’s at 10:30. It was very obvious that this woman had absolutely no clue what she was doing. We got checked in and got our pager. We went to have our picture taken.

P1080588.jpg

As soon as we got done with our picture our pager was buzzing. They took us to our table. Our waitress came and took our drink orders and then we were off to the buffet.

P1080590.jpg

This was the first time any of us had been to Chef Mickey’s and it was so much fun. The character interaction was great and the food was good.

Brooklynn found out when you laugh at Pluto…

P1080599.jpg

He will retaliate by eating you.

They sang Happy Birthday to Brooklynn and she got a cupcake with a candle in it.

When we left Chef Mickey’s we decided to stop by the Polynesian. We decided to ride the monorail. When we got to the station I asked if we could ride up front. The CM said he would see if anyone was up front when the monorail arrived. When the monorail pulled in the family who had been up front got out so it was all ours. Trent and Kristi took the stroller and rode in the first car and Mom, John, Brooklynn and I drove the monorail. If you have not done it you really should because it is pretty cool.

We walked around the Polynesian for a little while. Mom took a picture of Brooklynn and me since we were matching today.

We got on a bus headed to MGM so that we could transfer back to POP for the afternoon.
Brooklynn follows the rules and if standing holds on to the pole.

Just being silly!

When we got back to the room Brooklynn had a special surprise. A birthday balloon and card from Mickey and Minnie!

Well I better get to work. I hope everyone has a magical day!

WOW! I'm glad you are ok. Hopefully the dad will deal with the issue and not just laugh off the incident.

Love the pictures from Chef Mickey's. Sounds like you all had a great time.

MeMom - That is terrible! I'm so glad you're ok. It's a shame that you are put into a situation like that when you are simply doing your job. I too hope he comes back with a different attitude

Jill - Thanks for a great update. We have yet to eat at Chef Mickey's. I didn't book it for our October trip but I think I might for February. Brooklynn looks so cute! I have the same matching shirts for my DD and me :)

Aw Chef Mickey's! "C'mon and PARTY" I love swinging our napkins there!
I love the pic of Pluto "eating" Brooklyn!

Riding up front of the monorail is awesome! Just gets scary at night in a storm! :scared:

Wingedheart - Jill's is the 5th. What special thing are you planning for your birthday?

cherokeemamma - We'll miss you by about a week, according to your PM. I hate that, because we'd love to meet you guys! Maybe another time in the future...surely our paths will cross. Let me know about the Perry hotel you guys stop at. Jill is wanting to fly, but we'll see.

5boyz - We're going down on March 15th, but you're welcome to come down and celebrate a belated birthday!

snowbell - Have a great trip! I don't know if I could ever go solo for the whole trip, but I did enjoy a few solo hours at World Showcase one morning taking pictures. I didn't have to try to keep up with anyone else, and I didn't slow anyone else down. Plus, I could take as many pictures of the buildings, light fixtures, furniture, and all those little odd things I like to photograph without making anybody else wait on me. My kids make fun of some of the things I photograph, but I like the little details and want to remember them when I get back home.

declansdad - I'm glad you guys had a good trip and that you traveled safely back home. We'll stay in touch with your trip report daily. Declan has grown so much! I know he was so much fun on the trip. I looked at your pictures, and we have several just alike.

betsywdw - I do believe you and Jill shop in the same store! Definitely book Chef Mickey's. The food is just normal, but the experience was excellent!

tinkgurl - Yep on the Chef Mickey's. A definite must do, especially for anyone with little ones. As for riding in front of the monorail during a storm, wouldn't it be cool to do that during a Halloween trip?!?!?

Oh My Goodness...I love this picture. Brooklynn is so cute and she seems like a super happy baby. She is always smiling.

I love Chef Mickey's. To me, a trip to WDW would not seem complete without it. I know it isn't the best food but it is pretty good (your breakfast certainly looks good to me right now;)yum-o ) but it is so much fun. We went there on our first trip the first night and that is now our tradition. We all agree that Chef Mickey's has to be the first meal....it sets the tone for the trip.

Looks like Brooklynn loved it. The pictures are so cute!:goodvibes

As far as a hotel goes, I (DH, too) cannot remember the name of the hotel we stayed at. Sorry. I can only tell you that there were many to chose from and they are right off the interstate. I know that we picked one that was very familiar to us and it was inexpensive. They also had a free continental breakfast. I am thinking it was a Hampton Inn but couldn't promise. Wish I could be more help.

I hate that our trips will not coincide. I would love to meet you guys as well. One day...:rolleyes1

Have a blessed day!

So as Memom told you all I became the mother of a baby bunny on Sunday. On Sunday afternoon John looked out the front door and hollered at me. Outside there was one very tiny baby bunny. He was only about 2 inches long and his eyes were still closed. There was fur stuck in our front door mat where it looked like the mom had been up there as well. I called our friend who is a vet and he told me that there was probably nothing I could do and hopefully the mom would come back that night and get him. He said I could give him some baby formula if I wanted to try it. Now with a baby you would think I would have formula, but Brooklynn is a very picky eater. Breast milk only and only from the natural source - no bottle for this girl! So I got out a sample pack we had received through the mail and fixed a little up and fed it to him through a syringe. In the morning, we went and checked on him. He was still there so I fed him again through a syringe. I called the wildlife rehabilitation people and left a message. They called me after I got to work and told me they would not come get him, but they would tell me what I could do to take care of him if I chose to.

I told the lady I wanted to know so she told me to go get some Esbilac.

"What is Esbilac? Where do I get it? I do not save bunnies lives for a living so I don't know these things"

"You can buy Esbilac at PetSmart. Get the regular kind not the kind with goat's milk. Just keep him warm and you'll have to stimulate him to go to the bathroom like his mom would."

Okay folks, I have never been a mommy bunny so I had no idea how to make a baby bunny go to the bathroom and I swear this woman thought I was an idiot when I asked her how to do it. FYI, just in case you need to make a baby bunny go to the bathroom you use a warm moist cotton ball and rub its nether regions.

So I went to PetSmart and picked up the Esbilac and then went and got baby Thumper. I brought him back to school and fed him. He stayed at school and was doing well. He ate again Monday night and Tuesday morning and then it was back to school. Tuesday was picture day at school so I was in the back coordinating all that when my assistant director came and told me Thumper had gone to bunny heaven.

It was very sad. All the kids were asking about where he was so it was a good opportunity to teach them about life and death.

Tuesday night John, Brooklynn, and I buried Thumper in the back yard. In a strawberry poptart box because he was more a strawberry bunny than a brown sugar cinnamon bunny.

Here is a picture of my baby:
DSC06074.jpg

How Sad! He just must have not been able to live without the help of his mother?

Oh yes!!!! F-R-E-A-K-Y!

I can't tell you guys how excited I am about this October trip! We had a count of over a hundred days going for our Christmas trip, and now all of the sudden we have another very short count to replace it. We've never done MNSSHP, so that'll be so much fun, and for Jill to get to be in Disney World on her birthday is awesome for me.

I hope your Friday work day goes by quickly and that you all have a fabulous weekend ahead. Everybody be careful on the roads, and have a good long weekend, if you get the holiday Monday. I'll start off the day with a picture I took during the first hour of our trip:

P1080389.jpg

MeMom, I was horrified to read of the child attacking you, but am soooo glad to hear you are ok....My DS starts JK next Friday...I get teary just thinking about it. He is growing up too fast...but he is super excited!...Reading or hearing of these kind of experiences scares me....mostly because they are out of my control and I'm a control freak:rotfl: But also I worry about the kind of influence that other kids will have on my son...Ok, enough with the weepy mommy panic attack!:rotfl2:
Have a great time at MNSSHP, I am sooooo envious!

I just happen to work in a school where a lot of the kids lead rough lives. I've heard some pretty crazy stories about their lives at home. Most likely, your son will not experience these kinds of things, but you are right, it is out of our control.

Don't stress about him growing up. They're fun when they're little, and those memories are precious, but I'm crazy about my grown kids, too. We have good times whenever we can be together.

As far as MNSSHP, we will have a great time! Jill had mentioned going, and we talked about it for sometime in the next couple of years. Then I was was sitting at school reading another TR, and it just hit me that we could do that for her birthday, and since that is on a Friday, it really was possible that we could be there on the actual birthday, not just somewhere close to it. So, being the Disney irrationals that we are, we booked! Everyone thinks we're nuts, since we just got back and we're going again at Christmas and in the spring, but each one will be a different experience with the different events.

Here are a few more pictures from after Chef Mickey's, as we walked around the Contemporary and Polynesian resorts.

Have a good Saturday everyone! Several of our readers are headed to Disney World this weekend, so safe travel and great times for all of them!

punkin413 - Glad you had a chance to catch up. That picture is one of my favorites, too! It's almost September. That's when you get to say, "I get to go to Disney World THIS month!" - right?

yes!!! i actually posted that on my pre-TR this morning!!!

We have annual passes, so the more we go, the more VALUE we get for our money. That's pretty good logic in my book! The passes are paid for, the room is being paid for...MNSSHP is calling for Brooklynn to come and join in the fun...it's your birthday, and since I got to be there on my birthday, I think you should get the same joy....I can go on. I have more, if I need to go on. It's two little days off of work for all that fun. Please, oh, please, let's do it! I (let's go) love (MNSSHP, headless horseman, costumes and candy) you, (Disney World in October) Jill! And your little girl, too!!!

i see the logic.....seems totally clear to me!!! it's DISNEY logic....what else is there? ;) so glad you guys are going back! i'm assuming there will be a TR linked below soon?

okay...i really hope you guys have this framed somewhere!!! CLASSIC!

I can't wait to see your TR and pics of MNSSHP. You have great commentary and excellent pics in this TR. I don't know if I will ever get to MNSSHP as the 1st week in November is DH's deer hunt...same for the last 10years or more now...apparently this is a very serious event...starts planning the first cool day in September...this year August as we have had some lovely but cool weather over the last week:confused3 ...DS(4) is very serious about this as well...not at all upset about Bambi's mom...can you believe that?

So, like many other's here on the Dis I will live vicariously through the TR's until I myself can make it there:goodvibes

WOW finally caught up...Brooklynn and I share the same birthday and she was one lucky girl to have so many parties..

I love all the pics....makes me feel like I was there with you.

We are counting the days till our November trip...only 85 more to go...cannot wait.

I am sorry to hear what happened with that student I can relate working with students who have disabilities and behavior issues.

After spending the morning with Chef Mickey and all of his pals, getting our monorail pilot's licenses, and enjoying the beauty of the Polynesian, we headed back to Pop for some swimming and resting. The latter part of the day was spent at Magic Kingdom.

We rode Buzz, and got stuck at one place for about five minutes. Everyone kept shooting and racking up points. I wasn't really interested in my score. I was shooting one way and looking around at other things.
