What do i do for baby bottles on the plane? Can we take our own boiled water in the bottles? I thought about just buying cartons airside, but what about on the way home? Can you take the cartons through security with it being liquids? Also do we need to leave any unused jars on the plane, as i assume you can't take them into the US?

I bought airside when we travelled to Paris, on way back I had cartons in hand luggage, not a single eye brow was raised

I was same as you and wondered about return journey

We just took bottles of boiled water, I filled them as full as possible so that if I had to taste it there would still be enough left, but the guy was fine and didn't ask me to test it. On the way home I did the same and they didn't even ask me to remove them from the change bag!!! Also just a tip if you use dr browns, loosen the lid as the pressure in the cabin and the vacume in the bottle = leaks lol! As for food the cabin crew ask me to specify on the landing form(green or White one) that I had food and I just carried it in fine!
With regard to the bottles my gp told me that you are actually fine to use evian to make formula if you need to as it's low sodium so you can always buy that after security if you need to.

I took powder in my little Avent dispenser, and mixed up the feeds on the plane. I was asked to taste the water at security and that was fine - they did take the cartons of milk off me that I had bought already.

Coming back the security at Orlando were fine they didn't ask me to taste it or anything and the lady said " Maaaaam your baby has gotta eat don't you worry" :goodvibes

Thanks guys, will take boiled water and powder incase but buy cartons airside, with enough for the way back. Am just a bit nervous *** sam is still abit of a milk monster at the moment and am terrified of being caught short on the flight!

last nov we flew to egypt and i took cartons and bottles already made, i also took empty bottles as they made me open a couple of the cartons and taste them so i just put them in the empty bottles. nothing was taken off us

on the way home same again but they didnt say a thing about it

i also pre ordered some pre made cartons at boots airside

I'd take some spare sachets and ask the cabin crew for extra boiled water if you do get caught short, we've always found the cabin crews to be really good when you have got little ones.
OT - This year we had a crew member on Continental tell us there was a spare row two behind us if DH or I wanted to move so that the kids could lie down - I was very appreciative of the extra room - and to be able to get the kids to have a rest!

You will be fine with boiled water and powder both ways, we did this with Megan in October.

At Gatwick there is a family line, its best to go through that queue and just make sure your bottles of water are out of your bag when you go through the scanner. They have no problems with it at all.

On the way back there is also a family queue in MCO which is also fine with bottles of boiled water and powder.

You may be required to taste a small bit of it - i wasnt on either journey but i have heard some people were.

The cabin crew on VA were extremely helpful with Megan and were more than happy to either warm up a bottle or to provide hot water for a fresh bottle.

def take more powder than you will need, the cabin crew on Ba were more than helpful when the water from our dr browns leaked and offered us more boiled water for them, but i had stocked up with evian airside in boots so was fine. also feeding on take off and landing is great for thier little ears so have a spare bottle for this incase a feed isnt due.
