I didn't know Hoya made this.

Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizing Pro 1 Digital Multi-Coated (Super HMC) Glass Filter:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...011&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation

I emailed B&H and specifically asked them if this was the Pro1 filter or the Pro1 Digital, and they assured me it was a Super HMC Pro1 Digital.
I have yet to see one anywhere else.

When I plug the same model numbers and stuff into Bizrate, I come up with this (the Pro1):

http://www.adorama.com/HY77CPLSMP.html
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0002862XO/ref=nosim/103-9955952-3743063?n=502394

When I plug the Mnf# off of B&H (019516) into Nextag, and I get this (the Pro1):

Here are the listings for the Pro1 Digital:

What's the deal here?

never seen one labeled 'digital'. the pro-1 series are very good - without colour-cast and very good at reducing stray flare. but i'd still recommend a b+w mrc

I have seen ads for this is various photog mags, something to do with the coating being more sensitive to the back reflection from the Digital sensor.

There is more of a description on their site with the name and MC designation on the filter

Hoya Filter

***??? This is the reply I got back from B&H:

Does Nextag make or sell photo products? They do not so should you trust their website for accurate information or THK's website?

http://www.thkphoto.com/products/hoya/pro1d-04.html

THK is the USA distributor of Tokina lenses, Hoya filters and Kenko lenses.

HOCPP1SMC77 <---- Please type this into the search at the top of our web page and then click the arrow to the right.

Our website is live with our stock as well as current pricing. Please add the items to your shopping cart to determine the shipping cost.

And does a "digital" filter have a USB1.1 or USB2 interface? :)

I could really do without the smart *** comments when I'm trying to find accurate information.

The link they are sending me is for this item here:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...185&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation

I want to know about this item here:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/con...011&is=REG&addedTroughType=categoryNavigation

Is the second item the Pro1 or the Pro1D???
Why is this so difficult?

well according to the tow links you posted, they are the exact same thing just listed twice. maybe an accident?? I have never had a problem with B&H. I love them!

I kind of liked the SM comment. They are right and besides, we don't know what you said to them first!?

Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizing Pro 1 Digital Multi-Coated Glass Filter

Mfr# XD77CRPL • B&H# HOCPP1MC77

Hoya 77mm Circular Polarizing Pro 1 Digital Multi-Coated (Super HMC ) Glass Filter

Mfr# 019516 • B&H# HOCPP1SMC77

Both say "digital". What's the problem? One is "Super HMC" and the other isn't.

"Super HMC" is their best coating. Hence the difference in price.

I have no idea what the "digital" designation means.

In my limited time reviewing the links it appears they are both Pro 1 Digital but they have two different coating combinations.

I would be on the defensive if someone came to my shop with links to other venders/competitiors asking me to explain their adds.

Not saying you did that, I don't have that info, it was just a comment.

I was at a Best But and a lady brought 28 DVDs to the service counter. She said that they were cheaper at another store and she wanted the BB employees to look up the prices so she could get the pricematch!!

There are two filters in question here. One is $30 more than the other (no biggie). I'm looking for a Pro 1 Digital, not a Pro 1. The Pro 1 Digital line is optimized for DSLRs (so says Hoya).

The reason I am asking them what's up with this is because 1) I haven't seen a "Super Coated Pro1D" ANYWHERE else, including Hoya's website, and 2) The MNF# they are using to list this filter is in fact the Pro 1.

I just got another reply back from them appologizing for being rude, and again assuring me that both filters are in fact Pro1D's.

Go figure. :confused3

maybe they were having a bad moment. Still a great company.

The question is, is there really such a thing as the "Super HMC" version since you say that Hoya doesn't list a "Super HMC" version.

Here's the PRO 1 DIGITAL (not Super HMC) for $50 less than B&H

www.sigma4less.com (search for HO77CPP1D)

the one i had was a Super HMC Pro 1 (it didnt say digital). it had the HMC coatings. i'm guessing Hoya Optical has rebadged this line similarly to the way Sigma has designated their lenses DG, without a significant coating change.
