I thought that was so nice of him! But then again, that's how the year-round folks are up here.. I guess that's why I love it so much here at the lake and try to hang in there until the last possible moment..

None of us know when we'll need help and it's so good to know someone trustworthy is there if need arises.
I live in an area that I imagine is much like where you are now, with few "year arounds" and many "seasonals". We, too, try to help out our neighbor, whichever category they fall into. One of the main reasons we've stayed here, despite the financial hardship, is because of how people in this area believe in the golden rule of doing unto others.
Baking for him is great, but you also might want to think about a gas card to the local gas station, or a gift certificate to the nearest diner or fish fry place when you finally pack up to go. Even send it to him at Xmas, if you think he won't accept it in person.
