We will be going to Disney the 1st week of December to celebrate my daughter's 2nd birthday...3 teenage boys, my daughter, my mom & myself

On Dec 5, the day of her birthday, I wanted to take her to CRT for lunch.. Then a fun filled day at MK, and of course, lots and lots of photos...

I just noticed parade filming starts that day... :worried: I was hoping to take pictures in front of the castle from Main St. But i guess that will seem impossible now...

Plus no electrical parade.. No wishes fireworks... And MVMCP is that night... We are not going to the MVMCP...

And we do not have park hoppers...

:( Any suggestions??? Maybe its not what I think? Or make alternate plans?

Go to MK on a different day.

I would choose a different park. Your daughter is so little that something like going to CRT on the exact day of her birthday will mean more to you than it will to her, and trying to elbow your way through a crowd that's choking Main Street isn't something I want to do even as an adult. We rearranged our itinerary just to avoid the parade filming.

You can always do what you planned to do - just on a different day.

I agree with the other posters -- do MK on a different day. Parade taping day is everything you described, and more.

We were there that week several years ago, and we had our itinerary planned to avoid parade taping. Unfortunately, it rained on the originally scheduled day, so they moved taping a day later, when we were in MK. It wasn't horrible, but it certainly would not be the kind of day you want for your family.

Hope you have a magical trip!

We went to MK specifically for the parade taping last year. But know that on Friday and Sat, good pics with the castle will be difficult. On Friday they do the performance taping, all the acts perform on the stage and they have film crews and a lot roped off. On Sat, all of main street is roped off for the taping through normally afternoon. You can go through the stores but they won't let you out into the street. Sunday is the backup day in case of bad weather Fri or Sat, so it has a potential to be blocked off as well.

A couple of years ago we went on the Friday of parade taping. Really, the park was hardly impacted at all by the taping. The castle area was roped off, the garlands over Main Street were not up and there was a scissor lift up in front of the castle for the camera man. That was really it. The parade taping and closing early for MVMCP scared lots of people away so the park was empty. It was awesome! We went to rope drop, stayed until about 12:30, went home for lunch & a rest and came back at 3:30 for our CRT reservation. We also had tickets for MVMCP that night so we stayed til closing. They took down the scissor lift in the evening and we got some amazing castle pictures then.

Another vote for MK on a different day. The taping really chokes Main Street and castle area. Maybe Akershus for her birthday?

It looks as though Dec. 5th, is the taping for the musical acts, not the parade itself. Josh (easyWDW) is still recommending MK for the 5th, and says to avoid the 6th, which is the taping of the actual parade.

You'll be fine until the taping of the musical acts finishes as far as rides go. As soon as they finish most of the guests there for the taping will be trying to get on rides too. And you still won't have easy access to the castle for pictures until they are done.

As far as the nighttime stuff, you'll either need to do that on another day or plan to get tickets to the party.

It's usually suggested that if you do not have a park hopper, avoid MK on party days, since you'll have to leave by 7 PM and you can't hop to another park. I know you wanted it to be her actual birthday at MK, but she is only 2, she probably won't know the difference, and you can celebrate on more than one day.
