Just back from a quick weekend at SSR and wanted to share how nice it was!!
First, it was just myself and DH - a rare treat weekend away without the kiddos - and where do we go? TO WDW, of course!!
We arrived Friday night 10 minutes late for our Turf Club reservation at 8:55p and thankfully, they still let us in. Glad I did online checkin
as there was no line for such folks, and I was out the door within minutes with KTTW in hand. We asked to sit outside, and this was lovely!
Much quieter, the weather was awesome, and we just sat back and had great drinks (agave nectar margarita for me - yummy!,) and very good seafood
entrees, while looking out at the water. They didn't rush us at all. I would definitely eat there again.
We were in Congress Park - I had requested DTD view, and we had a great location for us. We love to walk, so we walked to DTD, and
the view at night was pretty with all the lights across the way. We slept so soundly. Never heard a peep from any other neighbors the entire stay.
Saturday was Typhoon Lagoon day - the temperature was perfect and the crowds so light, even the CM's were talking about how odd it was. We were like a couple of kids and went on every slide & ride multiple times. Headed back in the afternoon and got ready for Narcoosee's ADR. Just walked over to DTD and hopped on bus to get to Grand Floridian. Got there too early and sat by the pool sipping drinks until it was time. Had really great seafood meals here, with fantastic service, and walked out just in time to watch Wishes from the dock.
Sunday was get up and run morning - just a 3 mile jog for me and 9 miles for DH. The paths at SSR are a big plus for my shorter runs. Once the sun was up, running felt sooo hot! We swam in the pool to cool off and were surprised at how comfortable the water temp was. We then headed off to ESPN WWOS (walk to DTD, bus to All Star resorts, then bus to ESPN) and watched the Braves vs. Mets spring training game there. That was an awesome facility, and the game was so much fun. There was lots of Mets fans there so there was a lot of cheerful banter/teasing between the opposing fans in our area.
Took a cab back to SSR to catch ME bus in time (would do cab both ways next time - bus routes took too long.) Got home by 8:30p last night and more Pixie dust - the kids were sound asleep! Then, the pixie dust wore off, and by 1am, one sweet little 3yo boy was snuggled next to me during the thunderstorm. Ahhh, life returns to normal.
I just smile, when I think of the many adults who questioned why my DH and I would choose to go to WDW to get away - I think they would have a hard time matching all the fun stuff we did and saw this weekend, anywhere else. I guess I'm still in the after-Disney glow today.
