Avoiding Candlelight Processional Crowds?

Any tips on how to avoid Candlelight Processional crowds?

If we are at the DLH and heading back to the park for the evening, what time should we try to get through Main Street before things get started? And where should we go so as to avoid getting stuck somewhere? I'm not sure where the crowds will be.

I'm thinking if the crowds are going to be too much to get through Main Street, we'll probably just head to DCA for the evening, but I'm not sure I want to plan that for two nights in a row.

Great question, I would like to know this as well. We arrive to DLH that afternoon and will be hitting the parks that evening.

If you decide you want to stay in DL, I woud recommend being back into the parks before 5 pm and you probably want to think about taking the train over NOS in order to avoid the crowds on Main Street. Using the train to navigate through the lands during that time is a good way to avoid the hub/Main Street area.

We arrived at the park around 6pm on Sunday night last year. Main street was crowded. If I remember correctly the majority of the people are seated and standing in the loop right before Main St offically begins. Once you get through that you should be ok. I would compare it to the crowds you deal with at the end of a parade or fantasmic or something. It shouldn't be too aweful. We'll be there Sunday night too!

I know the train station is closed on Main Street, so I would guess that the trains don't run during the Candlelight Processional.

Kim-are we going the same day? Hello, where have I been...maybe we will see eachother this year. I didn't realize we would be there the same time. Maybe because we had to change our dates last minute with the fires??Sunday night I think I am going to take the boys to the park while Matt stays with Kylie to sleep.

Maybe we will jump the monorail into the park. What time will the crowds be gone on mainstreet?

Yup, same dates. Maybe we will see each other on the freeway too Remind Matt you get free internet at the DLH so he can have something to do while Kylie sleeps.

Anyhow. I'm not sure what time the crowds will die down, once we got through the thick of it we were fine. Are 6pm I think they were right in the middle of the event but I'm not 100% sure.

Ooops! I forgot they shut it down during the actual performances. But it would still be a good idea to use it prior, inbetween and after the shows in order to avoid the chaos on Main Street.

Kim- Yup taking the laptop. He volunteered to stay back and I won't second question that one with DL right infront of us. Did I tell you that they are doing something "special" for us? There was a mix up with getting our tix to us and such. I can't wait to see what "special" means...room upgrade, a basket full of goodies, etc...who knows.

I think I read that the crowds clear out pretty quickly after the event. I am not sure if that means they leave the park, or disperse throughout the park?

So if we are getting into the park as late as 5:00 (half an hour before the first processional), would we be able to use the train to get through? I'm assuming Main Street will be quite crowded and difficult to navigate by then.
