Avis - Car Top Carriers

Does anyone know or have used a car top carrier (you know, the turtle back looking things for extra luggage) from AVIS at MCO or at the Radisson location.

Just wondering in case we need one. We have six people and I know min-vans do not have that much space in the back.

I'm sure they wouldn't offer them... they tend to scratch the roofs of cars. If you needed more room, I'm sure they'd be happy to upgrade you to a larger vehicle... for a higher rate, of course.

Some of the rental mini vans/SUV's have luggage racks installed on top

Hi Dave....we already have a mini van...whats left to upgrade too that would hold more luggage? Do they rent those large 5 or 6 seater vans?

Maybe I'll just take some bungee cords with me and if the van has a luggage rack use those.

I was worried about the same thing (we just returned from 6/29 Magic) and Avis does not have the car top carrier. We had 4 adults 3 kids and 12 pieces of luggage: 2 large pieces of luggage, a really large wheeled duffel bag, 2 boxes of wine, 1 large garment bag, 2 medium rolling bags, 3 rolling backpacks, rolling laptop bag, plus camera/video camera bag, & 2 large purses. We barely got it all into our Suburban to drive to the airport so I was quite concerned about the rental van. With some creative stuffing and a bag squished into every available space (under feet, between seats, upfront on top of console, etc) we got it all in. The bummer was unloading it all at the Radisson and then reloading in the morning to drop off at port. But it all worked out. I don't think there is anything bigger to upgrade to, when I checked upgrades were for SUV's which hold fewer people as well as cargo. Good luck!
