it's been over 3 years since the last time i took Mears.
i didn't time it, but i do recall waiting forever for them to fill up the van with enough travelers before leaving the airport.
we were staying offsite on 192 back then, and it must've taken at least 20 minutes of waiting around before the van left, if not longer.
and then another 40 minutes to the hotel.

anyway, for those of you who have taken Mears to get from the airport to your on-site Disney resort, can you please share your experience about how long it took?

i'm talking about the clock starts ticking from the time you walk up to the Mears counter to purchase your tickets.
then the end time is when you actually get out of the van at your resort.

please cast your vote, and share your recent Mears experiences.
thanks, everyone!

It depends totally on how many people there are and where they are going. It is impossible to give any estimate that would be accurate in any way. If time is of the essence, then I would suggest someone like Fl. Tours.

*sigh*
okay, i realize that.

i was originally going to post a poll for the FASTEST time it has ever taken by Mears.

and then another poll for the SLOWEST time it has ever taken by Mears.

but decided to just post only 1 poll.

i'm just dreading Mears now, but since when i arrive, it will be just myself, a towncar by myself would be way too expensive.

i guess if this is pointless, then people can just ignore my post. whatever.

I was surprised at how quick the process was in August. It was just my husband and myself, and I couldn't justify the car rental expense, so Mears it was. Our plane got in at 1:55, and we were in the van by 2:20. We were staying at the CBM in DTD and they filled the van with folks at the various DTD resorts. I also used them for a transfer to the Hard Rock Hotel, and DH was very surprised and pleased with the town car that picked us up for the transfer. I know we may have been lucky, but maybe Mears is noticing the competition too!

Three times in early 90's and it was between 45 mintues to 1 hour to get to OKW.The van was always full and we enjoyed talking to everyone.Driver was always nice and safe and had no trouble on return trips to MCO.We used a town car service and that spoiled us LOL.That said I didn't want to slam Mear's I always thought they were a good service and I didn't stop using them because of bad service. We just tried town car and liked it better.I don't mention Town Car's company name because I don't want anyone to think I'm shiling for them.:wave2:

I used Mears only once, one way.....from MCO to the Dolphin to catch up with DH who was at a conference. (Tough job assignment now wasn't it :p ) I had no trouble at all, and was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I got there.

When we travel with the kids it tends to be more economical for us to rent a car or use a service......

It has been a long time since we've taken Mears, as we've been using Happy Limo for a couple of years now. But when we used Mears, we never got to our resort in under an hour. We always managed to get on a shuttle that was going to our resort last. The fastest we ever made it in a shuttle was in 40 minutes, but that was Transtar (which no longer exists at MCO). We took them because we were heading to Mears and their rep. flagged us down and said they would honor our coupon and put us on a shuttle going to our resort first.
Mears has been good for going from WDW to Universal (you still stop at multiple resorts), but if you leave early in the morning you don't lose any park time). But for transportation to WDW and DCL, I prefer Happy Limo so I can leave immediately and get right to my resort.

If you'd like to read my (long) trip report it's here http://disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=458409 I also posted it in 8 smaller pieces on that board, one for each day. This was my first Mears experience and I have no complaints. It took 1 1/2 hours to get to WDW and that was okay with me. At no time during my vacation was I in a hurry (except for a few times to find the restroom, but that's another story ;) ). I was by myself on a solo trip. In my report I wrote

At the Orlando airport I went to the Mears counter and asked for one roundtrip to All Star Movies. I went outside and got the beeper disk. The signal came and I smiled when the guy said to me, “Oh, you’re the movie star!” ASMo was the last drop-off on the van driver’s list and I got a chance to ask him about his “retirement” job. He said he doesn’t need a bus driver license to drive the van around all day, a few days a week. After the half hour wait at the airport and the hour-long ride, I’m in line at the check-in counter. Woohoo!
