Average price for hair cut/dye at the salon.

My cut/color used to run around $200 + tip. My stylist recently changed careers so I've decided to try coloring my hair at home - combined two different colors from madison reed and I think it came out pretty decent!

I used to live in California and I'd get a cut, blow dry, color on my roots (cause they're gray), and highlights for $90 - $100...depending how much she did. Five years ago I moved to the Southeast and was shocked at the cost....easily starting at $200. In all honesty, I thought it would be cheaper here. I eventually found a place and I pay $135. I'm actually getting my hair colored and cut tomorrow at a Supercuts because my hairdresser is on leave because she had surgery and I will be traveling a lot in October. I don't think Supercuts is going to be cheaper though.

Today I was at the salon. I’ll admit it has been awhile. My SIL usually does my hair, and does it well. My nephew was hospitalized with myo-pericarditis for a week. I did not want to even ask.

Moving along, I asked for my roots, which ended up being more than as they were a bit more than grown out ,, she suggested a gloss to tone down the brightness of the rest, and cut and blow dry.

I am sitting there thinking, this is gonna be hmmm 150, no, 170. Then thinking it can’t be, that’s too much, but it was a lot of work, and I loved my hair. Final tally, 140.75$ is this high, low, average in your neck of the woods?

I did tip, and I tipped well. I had never heard of this place or gone there, but everyone is now raving about it, I’ll be going back,

For my area, that's a good price for all you got. Glad you liked it!

Suburb of Cincinnati and my daughter pays $150 for a cut and color. I use a semi-permanent color on my hair at home. My cut is $40 every 4 months and I trim my bangs between cuts. I'm blessed with longer wavy hair so low maintenance.

I pay about $350 for a cut and highlights before tip, and my colorist doesn’t cut. He’s very good, haircuts average $70 here. ETA NYC metro area of NJ.

Where I live is 70 for a cut alone and that is not going into Boston but rather in the suburbs. Tip is another 20 so...some of you are getting a good deal! However, the cost of living in MA is outrageous not as bad as NY but pretty bad..

Small city in Western MD..$20 for a cut,,$50 for color..glad I don't live where it costs as much as most of you! I do color my own hair at home, too expensive to have it done at the salon

If I go with the works (foil, roots and hair cut) it's $220, root only are $80, cut and roots are $125. I'm in northern Metro Atlanta

South Orange County, California. You’re going to pay $200 or more for that here. The closer you get to ocean - price goes up.

Average for me in upstate NY. I have long and thick hair. For a full foil and cut it’s $160+tip. For a partial and cut it‘s $115+tip. To be honest I think I‘m getting a deal because it takes 2-4 hours to foil and process me 🤦🏻‍♀️.

AND I don’t get it blown out or styled… I go home and do it myself.
I always get a cut and highlights together, once I had to go in for root job (too many grays) and I left with a wet head because I didn’t want to pay for a blowout.

This is great information to know as a guy who wants to get married in the future. When the future wife wants to get a color and cut for $200+, I won’t freak out. I’ll just accept it’s the norm (and I won’t be going to get those sports game tickets that week). It’s things like this that makes me happy to be a guy who spends around $20 just for a cut (I don’t need to color yet 😬).

I‘m in the south & just paid $220 yesterday for color/highlights & a cut ($175 + 25% tip).

I go every 10-12 weeks.

(The prices of the salon where I go have increased about $40 over the past year or so… I think I used to pay about $145.)

Timely question. I can actually answer since I just had this done on Monday after 27 months. I paid $168.75, that included a 25% tip, for a full foil and cut.

I think in NL I pay about 50-70 euro for cut & dye? We don't tip hairdressers here.
It was half that price when I went to a school for hairdressers near my old home. It took a bit longer, but the result was (usually) just as good.

I just paid $88, not including tip, for cut and color a few days ago. I live in a semi-rural part of Virginia. I thought the price was quite reasonable.

$42 plus tip for a haircut at my salon. Color my own hair so don’t pay for that. This is about an hour outside of Boston.

OK, some (many?) women are absolutely insane, paying such prices.

If you're married or in another LTR, you can drop the act. You've already hooked a partner and we're no longer wowed nor give a damn. And guys are well aware that you do this in a futile attempt to impress other women, not for us and not for yourselves.

$70 and up for a simple haircut??? Heck, Julie can do a much better job with his weed whacker than some full-of-himself stylist who'd charge such a ripoff price. For free yet.

Hahaha! I gladly pay $100+ for just a cut, no color. My husband doesn't care what my hair looks like, so it's not for him. It's entirely for my benefit. If my hair looks good, I am much happier.

I go to a curly specialist, and the last haircut I got was.... less than stellar. So, I'll be going back to the master stylist I was very pleased with previously and yes, I'll pay more, but I will always be happy with my hair. I get my hair cut once, maybe twice a year.
