Hey y'all. Part of my reservation strategy was to get DCA because I just wanted to watch the Avengers campus shows (the Dora Milaje, Doctor Strange show, the stunt action sequences, meet Avengers, etc)... but then I realized that was an assumption that they start shows/appearances right at opening. For the locals or the well-traveled true believers, is there a better time to plan to "Avenger campus people watch" than rope drop? I'm more than happy to spend 2-3 hours just enjoying the atmosphere there.

I'm also trying to figure out how to attend a Dr. Strange show at sunset while having ressies for WoC and F! each night I'm there. It just might not be in the realm of mystic possibility without the Time Stone. ;)

Thanks so much. Excelsior! :cutie:

They do not start the shows at rope drop. You can see the show times in the app on the tip board, or you can go on the website and under entertainment schedule these shows are listed as park atmosphere entertainment.

Today for instance, with a 8am opening for DCA, you have the following first show times:
Amazing Spider-Man: 10am
Avengers Assemble: 10:15am
Dr. Strange: Mysteries of the Mystic Arts: 2:30pm
Guardians of the Galaxy Awesome Dance Off: 1pm
Warriors of Wakanda: Discipline of the Dora Milaje: 2pm

So you have at least 2 hours between rope drop and the first show, and then a break before the afternoon shows start at 1pm. You can still enjoy a rope drop and Web Slingers and GotG, maybe catch some breakfast at Pym's or Shawarma, and self-explore the Ancient Sanctum and the shops before the 10 and 10:15 am shows.

It really depends on what else you wanted to do at DCA. If Pixar pier rides are a big deal, or Cars Land, it might make more sense to start there.

For sunset Dr. Strange, if your res are for 2nd show of WoC and F! you will be fine, but yes - it'll be hard to line up for a good spot if you do the sunset show. Today for example, sunset is around 7:48pm which corresponds nicely with the 7:50pm show, but doesn't really leave you enough time to get across park to line up for the first WoC show, but you actually have more time to park hop for a F! res, even first show. So if you want to try that combination, I'd do it on a F! night unless someone with more direct experience has better recommendations. I haven't been to Avenger Campus yet (we go in June), just been stalking the app and show times/wait times.

We caught most of the shows at Avengers Campus by chance while we were already walking through the area or eating at Pym's during our 5-day DLR trip.
The only one I'd suggest you try to plan out and arrive early for is Dr. Strange. The sanctum area is small and if you arrive after the show has started, you may not get in and there's a lot of foliage blocking the view from outside.

Thank you that's really helpful. I didn't realize the times were posted. Yes, it looks like I should rope drop DL cause there's rides there I'd like to do. (I haven't done all the little fantasyland rides that aren't in WDW.) Then I'll head over to DCA at park hop to Avenger watch for a few hours.... then back to DL for the elec light parade/ Fireworks/ F!

I really appreciate the insights, thank you!

The best time to see Dr. Strange is the first showing after sunset. It just looks better, and photographs beautifully. Bear in mind that IF you're one of the first few in to see that show, they have the first 2 rows of people sit on the ground, so others in the back can see. I think that 7:15 was a good time, as I recall. We saw the earlier shows as well, but they just didn't "pop" with color.

We were able to watch the sunset neon lighting at Cars Land at around 7:15p (in early April), use an LL at Guardians, and then head over for the last Doctor Strange show at 8:50p. That's before the nighttime events started, but the 7:50 showing of Doctor Strange likely would have worked too. It was really nice seeing it at night -- the lighting effects from the cauldron to the protective lanterns were much more pronounced.

We also got a drink at Pym's Tasting Lab at about 3pm and stood at one of the high tables across the way next to the Avengers HQ building. It turned out to be a great spot (and time) to see Avengers showdowns up on the HQ balcony, the Dora Milaje returning after their show, Loki hanging out nearby, and Thor, Captain America, Black Widow, Star-Lord, and Gamora walking past on the way to their character appearances.
