Avelo flyers - How do they handle lightsabers? Carry-on? Personal item?

For those who have flown Avelo - have you taken a lightsaber home? How did they handle this? Avelo charges for anything and everything, so I'm wondering what/if (there's got to be an upcharge!) they do with the lightsabers. Last year Delta didn't care about DD's lightsaber in its carry case from Savi's even though it was in addition to her carryon & personal item. But other flights we've taken since from other locations, even on Delta, a wristlet plus a tote bag were considered 2 personal items by the gate crew. I would hate to pay $50+ each at the gate to carry on their lightsabers home.

You can pay to have Disney ship it home. Much cheaper than $50 and less likely to get damaged.
Yes, but they will want to have them for a while to play and take pictures with. To ship them, they have to send them before we leave the park. And my DS is not likely to want to give his up at all. To avoid his autism meltdown, I will budget the $50 for his to be a carry-on. I'm not sure I want to budget for all 3-4 of them though!

If you keeps the receipt(s), you can also ship it from your resort’s gift shop, assuming you’re staying on property.

By regulation I don't think a lighsaber can be a personal item. It has to be a carryon. The CoC for Avelo says anything larger than 22x14x9 in any dimension will be judged on a case by case and could be allowed or disallowed.

I don't think it's a regulation, like an FAA regulation. But each airline, and gate agent these days, has it's own rules about these things. I see lots of kids getting on flights with blankets, stuffed animals, tablets, toys, etc, in addition to their personal items and carry-ons. But I've seen adults getting on the same flights harrassed for having 2 items because they have a large wallet or cell phone in their hand and a backpack. I just wanted some clarification as my "kids" are teens. I did call Avelo for their policy. The lightsabers are toys. Expensive toys. Toys that can fit under the seat count as personal items, that fit in the overhead are charged carry-on fees. I highly doubt they are charging parents a fee for the stuffed animals in addition to the diaper bag and backpack.
**We'll be prepping our autistic son that his lightsaber will be shipped home from the hotel. This was not an option last year. It was take it with you or ship before you left Savi's. Thank you for those who let me know that they restarted this option. Now I have enough time to prep him for what will happen!
