So, concept art and plans for Avatar Land in Animal Kingdom were announced at the d23 expo in japan, according to this article. http://www.wdwinfo.com/news/Theme_Parks_Attractions/AVATAR_Land_Details_And_Artwork_Ann_For_Animal_Kingdom.htm
I have totally mixed feelings about this.
For one thing, it makes me really mad: AVATAR IS NOT DISNEY. It's just not and it never will be. Yes, I know Star Wars wasn't Disney until recently, but that's a classic that has lived forvever and has a huge fan base. Just look at Star Wars Weekends. People are begging Disney to expand their Star Wars stuff in the parks. But Avatar was over just as soon as it began, in my opinion. It did well, but after watching it once I didn't feel the need to watch it again. It wasn't a "classic" (Harry Potter, Star Wars, or any actual Disney movie)
Also, I love Animal Kingdom and how it's main focus has never been movies. It's not all commercial. It's the most original and natural park (even though DINOSAUR is based on DINOSAUR). It was my favorite park.
BUT I do think Pandora would be extremely beautiful if they do it right, and if they don't have random blue people everywhere, it could be really cool. It is a really pretty place and it does go with the theme of how humans are causing destruction, how we need to protect the environment, etc.
However if they have meet and greets with the blue people I am so done.
Also in the article it says the park will have a night show! I am super excited to see Animal Kingdom from such a different point of view! Kilimanjaro will even have night rides! I've always wanted to ride that at night and stay at AK past 6-8.
All that is just my opinion too! If you're excited that's great! I want to know why, and if you're not I also would love to hear! I want to try to get excited about this but it's just so completely different.
So what do you guys think???
