Article from the LA Times, accessible by non-LAT subscribers because Yahoo News picked it up:

https://www.yahoo.com/entertainment/worlds-avatar-coco-coming-disneyland-030136793.html

Highlights:

There will be a new "Avatar"-themed section at DCA, based on "The Way of Water."

There will be a "Coco"-themed boat ride.

In answer to your next question: "Locations for the "Avatar" and "Coco" attractions — and what, if anything, they may replace — were not detailed." Drat. There's room for a boat ride over in the Hollywood area, right? I fear for the Redwood Creek Challenge Trail with the "Avatar" stuff but will think positively about it going elsewhere.

Also, there will be two new attractions in Avengers Campus.

The article also has news about WDW announcements, but focused on Disneyland because it's the LA Times.

Interesting. Thanks for the update. I wonder if they are going to do something like they are doing in WDW for Coco, though it seems like the Mexico pavilion ride must take up a lot of room. I'm going to miss the old ride, but I do love Coco. I wouldn't mind if they replaced Nemo in DL. For my family, that was a one and done.

I'm nervous about the Redwood Creek and Grizzly Peak areas in the park. I don't want Avatar stuff going there. And I think it would be weird to walk right out of the Grand Californian Hotel and into Avatar land. Yuck.

Some speculate it could go over in the Hollywoodland area and I'd much prefer that!

With Avatar going into the existing park, I really hope that means we'll get a Frozen land or something really good when Disneyland Forward happens.

Oh...and they really need to drop "California" from the name of the park now and just call it Disney Adventure Park.

Wait...which ride are you talking about that you'll miss??

Sorry, was talking about the old Mexico Pavilion ride, Gran Fiesta Tour, where they are doing Coco in WDW and wondering if maybe they were going to do something like that in DL.

The Coco ride is coming to California Adventure, not WDW. Gran Fiesta Tour is not going anywhere as of right now. Unless I am completely misunderstanding your post?

Wow, I read the whole article now. So many things happening. I'm wondering how they are going to double the size of Avengers Campus. It already seems squeezed in there. And where all this other expansion is going that Anaheim is allowing. Glad Anaheim seems to be back working with Disney. How much of the things they talk about at D23 actually come to fruition? I guess I'm glad their park numbers were down - the parks are plenty crowded as it is.

Oh, I thought they were replacing Gran Fiesta with Coco, must have been just a rumor. Glad to hear. We don't get to go to WDW very often, so I don't follow what's happening there very closely, things change so much between trips.

They confirmed that these are all active projects that are moving forward. None of it is Blue Sky.

I believe they'll just extend the Avengers Campus to the backlot area. There's a fairly sizeable parking lot back there.

The Coco thing is more worrisome. I don't like the idea of a water ride going away for a boat ride if the plan is to take away Grizzly River Run and Redwood Challenge. I hate losing unique items to more IP.

It could be worse though, Magic Kingdom may lose Rivers of America, the Liberty Belle Riverboat, and Tom Sawyer Island for the new Villains and Cars additions.

Just adding the 2 rides to Avengers Campus is going to completely change the experience at DCA. I wish they were there now and we didn’t have to wait.

I haven't heard this so I don't think it's happening, as of yet.

Wow, thank you. Are they still doing that thing where there will be a bridge over Harbor so everyone staying on Harbor will have to walk a block away to go through security? Are they putting anything in Blue Sky Cellar about this (or is that defunct - hasn't been anything to look at for years as far as I know).

Not sure on the bridge. I think Blue Sky Cellar has turned into a DVC sales center.

Disney doesnt want to pay all the actors that would be needed for it. Rather let it sit and rot away. Sad times.
Agreed. SO SO SAD. They’ll happily give us another off the shelf whirl-and-barf ride but real entertainment? Nope…nada. They just don’t see the value in providing shows in that beautiful empty AIR CONDITIONED theater. Makes me cry 😢

For what they will pay RDJ for his involvement, they could probably pay the cast of RTM fora year. Not that I’m slighting Bob, he deserves it…just think the money could be put to better use.
