An angel of a friend of mine is giving me enough points to rent a studio for one week during the summer. My parents already have reservations for 7/3-7/10. The points that I am being given are points from a cancelled reservation. They come with a stipulation that we must book at/within a 60 day window. My question is, what are the chances that I will be able to book a studio(anywhere) through DVC in May for 7/3-7/10?

Call right at the 60 day window. If nothing is available, get put on the wait list for every resort. Chances are it will come through but you might want to think about a back-up plan for some or all of the days.

And also be open to switching resorts during your stay. It might be tough to get 7 consecutive days in one resort--even on the waitlist. If all else fails, try to get 4 days at one resort and the other 3 at another.

Given that it's the largest resort, Old Key West is most likely to have availability. See how many consecutive days they can get you at OKW, and then fill in the rest of your stay elsewhere.

I would have your friend call day by day at the 60 day window to insure you get what you want. Good luck! I think there is a possibility, but that is over a major holiday, so there is no way of knowing. Be open to villa size, and you should be all right. Don't limit yourself to a studio only.

I booked both a 2-bedroom and a studio for about the same time of year in 2003. I booked very late. I easily got into Old Key West. It was great!:earsboy:
