Availability Question

After booking 7 months in advance and getting a room at Bay Lake tower for a week in October I recently had to cancel due to a work obligation, but my family and I are able to go in September.

I realize booking two months out is not ideal, but I was able to get a room at the Wilderness Lodge and I am on the wait list for Bay Lake Tower.

Here is my question- When I go to the Disney World Resort page where you can book a vacation I notice that they have availability at Bay Lake Resort. Does Disney eventually release these for DVC members or is that just wishful thinking?

Also I am on the wait list until 7 days out. Has anyone ever had there wait list option actually happen just 1 -2 weeks before traveling?

Thanks and don't get me wrong. I am excited to be at Wilderness Lodge with this late notice, just a dream to stay at Bay Lake.

generally, no. separate inventories.

when someone trades out for a cruise, for example, they give DVC their pts and DVC tries to rent them through CRO to get cash to pay the cruise division. so that availability probably relates to points that have already been used so you can't use pts to book it again. DVC also owns some pts and can sell reservations based on those pts for cash...

there is some "points" inventory that is given to CRO to book at 60 days out ("breakage inventory") for cash...some of that can be recalled to points inventory if needed. but the "cash" availability that represents points that have already been used to trade out of DVC...that can't come back to the points side.

We had our wait list come through just 2 days before we left. Even though our waitlist expired, I still called every day once in the morning and once in the afternoon and finally we got what we wanted. Of course though we were only waitlisted for 2 days at VWL. We were able to book 3 of the 5 days and waitlisted for the other two.
