Can anyone tell me if Lactaid milk is readily available in the food courts at the value resorts or in the parks? I am taking my niece who has celiac disease and is also lactose intolerant. I have emailed Brenda at Disney and she sent me some information about celiac but nothing about the Lactaid milk. I will have some delivered if I have to but am hoping it will be available to purchase for her. Thanks for your help.

I honestly don't know about the lactaid milk- we do soy and that is available at many places . Some table service I have to contact in advance

I would email back and ask only about the milk
Good Luck and have a great time:)

ok here is the deal we called her and she had the chef at pop cal us
they have lactate but its in the back not out for general public he asked me how much and how long we were staying and since it was 10 days he ordered more but he said they usualy have it all i had to do was go to food court and ask someone to get it from the back there was alot of pricing confusion no one knew how to ring it up at q/s rest. no one had it
at t/s rest that were in hotels most could get it cause hotel had it
we had no prb. we got it every nite from food court and kept it in room fridge

also they noted our adr and chef came out to help us hes also soy intolerent

have fun

Thank you, I was a little worried about breakfast. She will try the gluten free waffles, but would like to use cereal from home as a back up. Nice to know I can get her milk.

DD and I are severe lactose intolerant. I put 2 quarts in a checked bag, tight container to not crush with blue ice and a squashable cooler in a checked wheeled, crush type cooler. I put cereal, oodle soups, an electric water pot, throw away bowls and plastic ware. Jelly sqeeze bottle, muffins bagels, toaster. Packet size condiments, sugar, tea bags, flavor to add to water.

for the weekend we often rent a car from Enterprize super low cost, and also pick up soda OJ and bread, cold cuts like Turkey.
this cuts our cost, no running for a snack, I have zip locks to put ice in for the cooler and take the milk along.

that is good to know.. my Ds is lactose intolerant.. and allergic to Soy.
he only drinks the Lacatid brand milk products. At least I know if he wants cereal I can ask for the milk for him from the back. He won't want it enough for me to make them run out of a supply so I don't think I will call in advance for it..

Have you tried the Lactaid pills? DD and I are both severely Lactose Intolerant but I carry the Pills and we take them any time we have dairy and it is no problem.

Not sure if they are Celiac friendly though--not sure what the inactive ingredients are.

My son takes a pill every morning and it last 24 hours it gives you the ability to have some lactose (within reason) everyday - and they make a chewable for kids.. it is called by disgetive advantage and is sold in walmart/target
I don't see the child version in CVS or Walgreens or any of them though.
He has been taking that for 2 yrs now and works great but we still keep him on the lactose milk because even though you are on the pill it is not 100% full proof but I would say it gives him at least 75-80% protection. In order for it to work you take 2 pills the first 2 days and continue being careful like normally you would and you can still take the Lactaid pill at meals.. On day 3 though you only take 1 pill and then you should be good to go no more Lactaid pill at meal time.. then cont. to take 1 pill every morning if you miss a day you have to start from scratch though.. for 30 pills is like $8.00

You can also order this on garden grocer..that is what I did last time we were down.

:goodvibesThanks for the suggestions, I'm pretty sure that the pills are not gluten free as my sister did try them. I think I'll call the manager at the food court and find out what my options are. If we need the milk at all it will only be for cereal in the am. I am really hoping she will like the gluten free pancakes or waffles or will eat scrambled eggs like ate home.

Funny you should post this today. I am heading down in 2 weeks. I am GF and lactose intolerant. This is my first time going to Disney with this. Brenda has been great, she just answers the Lactaid milk ?? for me. The chef will make sure they have it for me as well as GF items. I just need to check in with them. She is great and responds quickly, so far I am very impresssed, can't wait for my trip.

I was lucky, my niece was able to drink (and liked) the chocolate Silk that is available at the Food Courts and TS restaurants.

: I think I'll call the manager at the food court and find out what my options are.

That really is your best bet. They will know what they have in stock and they will know what can be ordered in. When we were there in February, the main sous-chef at Pop got in some Silk yogurt and Kinnikinnick muffins just for us. The chefs really are amazing.

: If we need the milk at all it will only be for cereal in the am.

There are single serving boxes of Silk milk in the fridge by the other milks in the food courts at the resorts. If she's only using it for cereal then she may be fine with that, though I'm sure the chefs will bring her a big cup of Lactaid from the back if you ask.

: I am really hoping she will like the gluten free pancakes or waffles or will eat scrambled eggs like ate home.

Those gluten free waffles and pancakes are AMAZING!!!! They use Bob's Red Mill mix so she can easily try them before to see if she likes them. That being said, my daughter's not big on the BRM mix at home for pancakes, but she gobbled up the waffles every morning at Disney. They have a dedicated gluten free waffle press at the resort food courts.

I got a letter from Bill at DLR and they cannot stop emphasising talking to managers and chefs even at counter restaurants. They are on the front line and will know for sure what is going on.

I had hadn made gluten free pancakes and waffles and was nearly in tears and so ecstatic over being able to eat soy and gluten free pancakes. I keep pigging out on french fries as I miss those because so many restaurants cross contaminate or use wheat coated fries.

Have fun and bring a larger set of clothes as you may gain weight from eating around the parks.
