Anybody have any ideas on what the availability should be at Aulani in September? It looks like our dream trip will be able to come together then but I can't book until the 7 month window. I will have more than enough points available via banking to get a one bedroom for at least a week. Plan on staying in Honolulu before for a few days, then after Aulani move over to either Maui or the Big Island ( we have tons of Starwood points to use up). Airfare for us will be free (again using Starwood points)!!!!! I can't book airfare until JetBlue opens up past Sept 3rd, and we will fly JetBlue to JFK then take Hawaiian airlines direct. We might even be able to get our rental car for free using points, too.

Also, since this will probably be the only time we will ever be able to get to Hawaii, from those of you in the know, which would be better to visit, Maui or the Big Island?

We are just back from Aulani in December. Best resort ever! We also had to wait until the 7-month mark. Since we wanted to finalize the rest of the trip (pride of America cruise), I went ahead and booked a hotel room at Aulani and then cancelled it when I made the DVC reservation. Both Maui and the Big Island are spectacular! I would lean toward Maui unless you really want to see a real live volcano. I would also highly recommend the POA cruise. You get to visit three islands for two days each.

I am also leaning toward Maui. I went to Kauai 29 years ago with my brother (yes, my brother) and could go there also as I am sure it has changed, but we are always game for something new!

What cruise line is the Pride of America with? Never mind ..... I found it ....... way out of my price range for the 4 of us.

I'd be interested in the answer too. Sept. is our probable travel month, but do we even have a chance getting in since we can't book until the 7-month window? I just checked August dates and of the 14 days we could go, only 5 are available. What say you, Aulani experts? :-)

Thanks!

I believe you will find that in September -- after kids are back in school -- the availability will be much more open.

I had the same worries about booking a trip for 16 of us in August this year. I got online first thing in the morning on January 1 (when our booking window opened) and got all of the rooms we wanted but most of the standard views were booked up so ended up using more points than I had planned on. I had some extra points transferred in just in case - thank goodness. I had no trouble getting the ocean view grand villa, an ocean view studio, and a garden view 2 bedroom (wanted the standard view but those were gone) for each of the nights that we needed (1-7 august). I would agree w the poster above - september should be easier as most are back in school. Good luck!

Whew! That sounds great to me. I have more than enough points to book an oceanview. Not interested in saving points and booking a standard. I figure that this will probably be the only time we are going to get to Hawaii due to the expense of flying from here, so I want to see that Pacific Ocean!
