Auuuuuuggggggghhhh....AP Score just came *and*

Why hasn't my son received his yet? We are in MN & his friend got his 3 days ago, but we are still waiting!! Could there be something wrong? Or do they come out in "groups" like tax refunds??

Thanks to the DIS I now know that by signing up ahead of time at the College Board website & paying $8, AP students & parents can get their score *early* (we are SO doing this next year!) Also, at this point in the process I would think that his score might now be available at the College Board website for no additional funds just by signing in with your DS' AP #.

Btw, DD's paperwork indicted the score itself was done/calculated/dated June 26. (If it makes you feel better, one of DD's friend's said she hasn't gotten her score yet either.)

We always teased our kids about AP World History: They could ask you about anything that's ever happend in the history of the world.

Hate to bring this up now if you didn't know, but did your D happen to have taken the SATII in world history at about the same time? No one told us in 10th grade with World, but Son did take the SATII in US History within a week or so of taking the AP exam. Kills two birds with one stone study-wise.

I have taken 4 AP classes so far, but I could only afford to take one of the tests.

I just got my results back and I got a three :(

It was in AP. Language Composition.

Congratulations to your daughter! And congrats to you for letting her open the letter herself!:)

My mother opened mine, and I was even home at the time! She walked into my room holding it and asking, "So what does a 4 mean?". I was SO angry with her, and even though it's been 20 years now, I still get a little perturbed thinking about it!!:rotfl:

Not sure what you're talking about here, too many acronyms... oh, are you referring to the subject-matter tests? Yeah, I suppose DD could have done that or could maybe still do it, but she was so DONE with school... Like I said a truly hellacious year for her, probably wouldn't have been wise to put one more straw on that camel's back y'know?

PS - But we will keep that in mind for future reference, thanks.

I'm sorry for your disappointment with your score and even more sorry that you didn't get to take all of the AP tests you could have taken. There are many things in our local schools that have been cut back on in this economy, even in our supposedly affluent area, but at least the kids here don't have to pay for their AP tests. And I will fight to keep it that way so all the students can have access to whatever benefits they can possibly get from taking the AP tests they qualify for.

Congrats to your daughter! Well done. :thumbsup2

I took 2 AP classes in high school--European history & US history. I'll never forget when I got the European grade. I was working that summer at a summer rec program run by the local school district. My house is right behind the school, so I'd usually go home for lunch. That week, I had to stay in at lunch time to supervise the kids that lived too far away to go home. My mom knew what was in the envelope, so she sent my little sister to the school so I could open it--and when I opened it I got a 3--which was good enough in those days for college credit! I whooped & hollered, and no-one knew what the heck I was excited about. And I'll always remember how sweet my mom was to let me open it instead of opening it herself.

and the 5 I got in US history was the only time I got a higher grade than my older brother--and I still don't let him forget it, more than 30 years later.
