Autopia’s going ELECTRIC. Boogie-woogie-woogie!

I believe we may, indeed, be the minority, but you aren't on your own. I've heard a few people in a few different places that understand why it's being done, but going to miss the "old school" sound and smell.
I can understand missing the sound (which I suspect will be added back in with sound effects anyway), but truly baffled that anybody could miss the unappealing smell (which is comprised of carcinogens seeping into their lungs).

I’m a car guy and someone who grew up in the 80’s and 90’s mowing lawns, riding mini bikes, etc. I grew up going on Autopia where as a young person the smell, the “freedom” of “driving” is engrained in my sense memory and associated with Disneyland and Tomorrowland. I understand the move, I get it. Heck, I drive an EV myself, though it hurts my soul at times.

I guess it’s as they say - change is the only constant.

I just spent a day and a half in the parks and change is real every time I go. Some good, some less.

Totally respect we all have our own special favorite Disneyland memories and the sights and even the smells that bring them back. I hope they will get the new version as close as possible—and that whatever else they do, they don’t bring back Bird.

My only hope is that the whole thing disappears but many have pointed out the difficulty of putting a new attraction in that space is all the current infrastructure surrounding it...the monorail and people mover tracks, etc.

I get that its a legacy attraction but electric vehicles would at least be an improvement. I know little kids love driving, at least I remember my own loving it when he was 5-8
Did you know that the subs actually go under Autopia? That, I think, would be the biggest hurdle. They've already said the abandoned Peoplemover track is a tear-down. The monorail and train can be worked-around. Can you imagine something like Zootopia in that space? I sure can.

They announced this change two years ago (https://www.latimes.com/environment...eat-first-step-for-tomorrowland-boiling-point), and Hong Kong Disneyland had a version of Autopia with electric vehicles. So the engineering has already been done.

Whether or not this happens in the specified time frame, I don’t know. But they’ll have had three years since the initial announcement and a working version.
"HAD" is the operative word. It's a considerable expense to convert the cars and keep them charged. Running the needed power supply, by itself, is much harder than it sounds. They'd need to do that with whatever replacement they come up with, but with that you'd also gain a whole new land, increased attendance, guest satisfaction, etc. Autopia converting to electric would get an, "oh great, let's go ride the golf carts".
