Automatic tip at Nine Dragons?

Last Monday my wife and I had lunch at the Nine Dragons restaurant in Epcot. We are DVC members and currently are entitled to a 20% discount on lunch as a member’s perk. When the waiter brought the bill, we presented our Key to the World card and pointed out where it says DCV member. When he came back for the signature he told us “the tip has already been taken care of”. Sure enough, printed on the receipt was an 18% charge for a tip along with the 20% discount. I was so surprised that I didn’t say anything but have thought about it since. Shouldn’t a party of 2 have the option of determining how much a tip to leave? Has this happened to others at the Nine Dragons or elsewhere at WDW?

Humm .. that is weird. I have never seen that outside of room service and large parties.
I used my DDE card rather than DVC discount on my last two trips. I didn't see it.

Sounds like they keyed it under the same code they use for cast members. CMs get the 20% off, plus have the 18% added to their bill. They were probably uncertain how to enter the code and used the CM code instead of using the DDE code, which does not have the 18% included. I must note, after returning last week from my trip to WDW, there were 6 of us, and several times we used the DDP plus the DDE card for the OOP expenses. Whenever we did that, the receipt with the DDE bill always had the 18% added on. I didn't expect it, but had no real problem with it, since hubby was a CM for 8 years, I was pretty much use to them adding the 18% on to all of our bills.
