My DD is excited about getting autographs and would like to either get an autograph book or a T-shirt for the characters to sign. Any opinions on which would be best?

Has anyone purchased an autograph book at Disney, and if so, how big is it? We will probably try to purchase one our first night there (where can we find them?) and want to make sure that we will be able to fit it into a fanny pack.

Also, I'm sure my 3-yr old DS will also want autographs and I'm thinking that a hat would work best for him. Any advice on where to find a cute one? I'm going to check our local Disney store, but in case I can't find anything, where can we find a good selection outside the major parks? Maybe Downtown Disney? We'd like to be at AK early on our first full day... ready to meet characters! :)

We did the autograph shirts for the first time this trip. It worked great. We got 17 autographs without really trying. We had 2 character breakfasts, and stood in line for Mickey at MGM and for Minnie, Goofy and Donald and MK. Others were found throughout the parks.

The shirts are great. Our kids did not wear them though. We had them in our backpack and pulled them out for signing. I can't imagine the same shirt everyday on my 9yo DS.

I would not recommend a hat for autographs. Some of the characters sign rather big. Our 2yo did just fine if we helped her hold the shirt for the signing.

We have used hats. They work great. Got some at Target for 3 bucks. Used iron-on transfer sheets to put the BadShoe.com logo on the visor.

Be sure to get BIG sharpies in different colors - easier for the characters in gloves to use.

We do the autograph books simply because they're small and will be a keepsake FOREVER! T-shirts and hats will be outgrown and might get lost in the shuffle a few years down the road. Also we try to find another family that is traveling before us to purchase these for us (since they are only sold at WDW gift stores, Disney Store, etc.). Then we have them ready as soon as we hop off the plane! Take them absolutely everywhere! Characters pop up all the time! I also bought one and tried to get signatures or messages from all over the world. This kept me occupied while waiting in long lines and we met a lot of neat people!

We won't be autograph-hounding as much this time with 3yoDD but, she will be wearing a Minnie Mouse "bucket" hat (I think they're called), DS,13, bought it for her at Disney Store. DD's 1st trip so, I'm hoping "meet & greet" will consume and fill her desires! Not sure many books fit in most fanny packs, surely not a kids size one, anyway. I like the shirt idea as well but, like hats, they will outgrow them also. FYI, I read somewhere (here, maybe) that characters will not sign clothing while being worn; item must be removed or, not on at all, to be signed. I see the above pic where Snow White is signing the hat, don't know if that's common practice though.

Have a Great Trip! :D

LOL we use hats 'cause the books get lost, fall apart, and/ or sit on a shelf. One size fits from DD (3) to Zurg (42).

I am 14 years old and i went to disney when i was 10. At the gift shops there they have autograph charactors. I have a pluto one and it is adorable. maybee they would injoy one of the autograph animals better. That way they can play with the stuffed animal, and have the disney memorys written all over it. ;)

T-shirts can always be sewn shut at stuffed to make a cute memory pillow. :)

We just returned from 8 wonderful days at Disney World. We too had the characters sign a t-shirt. We got the 2001 Disney t-shirt, used fabric markers and an embroidery hoop to hold the spot for signature straight and smooth. We just moved the hoop around for each signature. The CM's were very impressed and the characters had a much easier time signing.

I like the pillow idea, something the kids can use all the time. I am going to transfer Disney Clipart to a plain white pillowcase and have the characters sign near their picture. thanks for the great ideas!!

We took the little golden books and had the specific character autograph that book. For the Hunchback, we had Clopan, Esmerelda, Quasimodo and Frollo all sign the inside cover. Same with Aladdin and a few of the fab 5 stories also. The books weren't too big and I took only those titles which we anticipated seeing that day. I've got about 10 autographed books and the kids love them!
