What are good pens for getting autographs?

Specific brand names, and where to buy them would be very helpful.

We just used Sharpies. They are permanent markers with a pointed tip. THey are nice b/c the body of the pen is very thick so it makes it easier to hold in costumed hands.

Were they just regular Sharpies? I'd like them, if they don't leak through the paper, and also since they come in like a thousand colors.

Use the regular sharpies - don't buy the new mini click it type ones as they are more difficult for characters hands/paws to grasp. Available at any office store, walmart, even pharmacies carry these.

If you're planning on using these autographs in a scrapbook, I wouldn't use a Sharpie. Sharpies contain acid and will eventually "bleed" over time.

I'm taking Creative Memories round tip black pens to use in DS's autograph album. I've added tape around the middle of one so that gloved characters can handle the pen better and left one pen untaped so that human hand characters can grip that one ok.

I too plan on taking a acid free marker, that you are able to buy from any scrapbooking store, or Michaels, Hobby Lobby, craft stores...you can also get these in about any color and they have a thicker barrel for the gloved characters. If I am going through the stress of getting these autographs, then I want them to LAST!!!!!!!!!!!! :earseek:

They worked fine on the disney autograph books. They bleed to the reverse side but not the next page. I had them always sign on the right side anyway so I can put copies of my DD's pictures with the characters on the left so you can't see the bleeding.

They also sell really cute disney pens in the gift shops that are fat enough for the characters to hold. I learned this through the DIS boards. The poster said they sell for about 3.95!

Kim in NC has the right idea. My DD is a 'very close friend' of some of the Princesses at WDW. From what she has told me, the thicker pens work well for the 'fur' characters (like Mickey and Goofy), but the 'face' characters (like the Princesses and Princes) find it easier to sign with thinner pens.
