I've gotten a character autograph once. It was Sleeping Beauty and I had her sign the cardstock ads for her film when it played at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood in August 2008. In my case, Mary Costa (the voice of Sleeping Beauty) had signed the very same item the night before. I kind of like the idea of having them sign something unique for that reason. It was interesting to see Sleeping Beauty's reaction when she saw just who had signed in her "usual" signing place.
As a side note, I absolutely loved watching Darth Vader sign either Princess or Tink autograph books at Star Wars Weekends at WDW. It was classic to see how disturbed the Dark Lord of the Sith was at signing something like that. He always had this look of "this is so beneath me."
Okay, carry on your discussion of autograph books. I just wanted to share my Vader story.
