My third dilemma.....

AUTOGRAPH BOOKS
I know some of you make them, and that is something I would consider, but with little time left, I wonder what the ready made ones look like at the parks? I found 2 Disney themed scrapbooks at Michaels last night so I bought something small so I could get the 40% off coupon that comes with the receipt and maybe go back and get one (and then the other with the next coupon). But I'm just not real clear on what finished ones look like so I don't know what I really want.

Thanks!!!!

You have me hooked with all your questions!!!

We collected autographs using a spiral Disney themed notepad from the dollar store. It worked out, since it had hard covers for the characters to use.

We used sharpie markers that clicked.

The only thing I didn't like about the books is that they are lined sheets.

I took pictures of the kids with each of the characters and hope to make a little momento book with pictures and autographs.

The truth is it is really easy to get carried away with everything Disney. I had to draw the line somewhere. So the dollar store books worked for us.

We didn't stand in many lines to see characters as we only had so much time. We were lucky that we came upon many character spots when they were just starting. Also character meals made it easy to get some autographs.

Good luck.

The ones at the parks are just a little book (maybe a hair better than 4X6) w/blank white pages in them and hard covers w/a pic of the fab 5 on front...around $7. Some fancier autograph books have a pages for autographs and pics...around $18

I have made very simple books using clip art images printed on a corner of cardstock paper and bound at kinko's for $5 (Kinkos will put a cover on the front and back, included in price).

The $1 notebook is a great idea!

Thank you to both of you for your suggestions. I think I have decided that I like the idea of the characters signing one side, and then being able to put a pic of my DC's on the other side with some cute Disney scrapbooking goodies.

If you go the scrapbook route, do you just get cardstock and carry that around for the characters to sign, then assemble it all in a book when you get home? Or do you put the cardstock under the clear protective covers and slide it out at autograph time? I am sure I am overthinking this, but we're only getting one shot at this for now so I want to do it right :)

I guess the $7 books would not really work for my photo and decor on one side and autograph on another? Unless I decided not to do any decor and just put a picture in? The books at Michaels would be about $10 after my 40% off coupon but they were bigger (8x10 maybe?) and I imagine would not be good to tote around?

Hmmmm....

We made our own signiture books from a micheal's notebook with one side autograph and one side picture. Used stickers to decorate. The characters loved the stickers, and girls got extra attention. Have fun!!

I see tons of autograph books listed on ebay but dont know what the quality is like. Any ideas?

I have read on these boards that some folks put their scrap book paper on a clipboard and then change to a blank page for the next sig....this way you can collect your autographs w/o taking paper in and out or carry the scrapbook around. Carry the whole shebang around in a large ziplock to keep it clean/waterproof. You could decorate the page w/stickers, etc. either before or after the character signs it. This clip board idea would also work w/ blank index cards and they can be slid in an inexpensive photo album after the trip, along w/the corresponding photos...think this would work w/a 4x6 size.

I am making my next book 8X11 and will have the character sign on the bottom and put the photo on the top of the page after the trip...I am only printing pages for characters we will meet at character meals or characters we will meet at the parks, like the fairies. Because I am using card stock, I believe the paper will be sturdy enough to hold the photo.

Theoretically, in the Disney autograph book, you could put the photo of the character on the prior pages back side, so it would be next to the signature, but I don't think the paper is sturdy enough to hold the photo.

Happy planning!

What I did was upload the autograph cards to Walmart and had them printed as photos. 4x6 size
I put them in alphabetical order in a small photo book. 4x6 size with hard cover. I also purchased small binder clips to be able to hold the photo to the cover while the character was signing.
We used a clickable Sharpie for the character to sign with.
Once back, I purchased a photo album that held 2 photos per page. I put the character signature in the top slot and the kids with character photo in the bottom slot.

Worked great for us.
