This will be our first time at WDW and I've just found out about the autograph books. Should I buy it before we get there (like on Ebay) or is it better to wait until we get there so I know I'm getting what I really need. Also should I get the picture and autograph books or just the autograph?

They have them at every store and kiosk when you get there, so I'd just wait. That way your kids can pick what they want.

This trip DD7 did an autograph pillowcase, which she'll enjoy more than an autograph book on her shelf!

We're also doing the cruise after WDW and I was going to do the pillowcase for that. Maybe I should just wait. I hadn't thought about letting the kids pick them out themselves, lol.

My girls love collecting autographs, but I felt like the autograph books were tossed in a drawer after we got home and never looked at again.
For my last trip, I purchased small scrapbooks (4x6) for each of my daughters. They would get an autograph on one side of the pages only. when we came home, we added the character photos to the opposite pages and decorated the cover and pages with stickers, journaling, etc. The girls love having their own albums and keep them on shelves in their rooms.

I think you are brilliant:banana: My DD would love to have a picture of her and her autographie. (sp? is that even a word:confused3 ) Thank you for the great idea!! This way we both can have a little Disney magic when we get home, we can decorate a scrapbook for her.

I personally am into scrapbooking and like all of my things archivally safe, so I put some 6x6 cardstock on binder rings and then when we got home I put all the sheets into a scrapbook for the kids along with a picture of them with the character and a few stickers. They still prefer to look at their "own" albums, as opposed to the family album with gobs of pictures in it!!! If your kids are old enough they could even do their own scrapbooking with it when you get home.

I am also a scrapbooker. I used spiral bound index cards and that way the signatures were not too big. Then I put pictures with the characters into a 7x7 album along with the autographs. I sell Creative Memories, so I used the Mickey album and snap pack. It was the first thing I did after out trip for DD to take to school. It was really quick and easy even if you aren't a scrapbooker!

Leaving in early May and need to know. Someone please tell me about the pillowcases! My kids would love it! Are characters willing to sign them? If so how do we make it easy for them to do so? This is so much better then an autograph book for us.

I read somewhere that when you get on the ship you go to Guest Services with a blank pillowcase (or some have gotten them personalized with their names on them). Anyway, they will have all the characters sign them and return them to you.

So they only do this for the ships? :confused3

We made our own autograph books. :upsidedow They have great "blank" bound books at AC Moore and other craft shops. We got quality stickers and had a great time making our own! We always had the characters sign on the right side of the book-and when we got home we put a picture of the person with the character on the left side next to the autograph. :upsidedow

Well you can buy one at the very entrance of all the parks. And i like the picture and autograph book. I like having the picture and the autograph right next to each other.

My kids love the autograph thing! Part of the fun is picking it out when they get there, so my vote is to do it that way. I must say that I would recommend the small inexpensive one with lots of pages though! We did those last time and they worked great. Both my kids wanted the picture combo type this time and they just didn't have as much room and they ran out of pages. They are quite a bit more expensive too.

We bought one there on our last trip, but this trip I'm going the Ebay route because I'm putting together "welcome" baskets to ship down for the kids. I like the ones I've found on Ebay that have a carrying case that could clip onto the kids' lanyards. The one I ordered for DD5 came with the book, a thick pen, a plastic holder for the book & pen, and a lanyard (all starring Tink) for about $20 including shipping. And since Tink doesn't appear or sign autographs at the parks, I'm going to add a little pixie dust of my own by having Tink's signature on the first page as a special welcome for DD. :cheer2:

How old were your kids when they started doing this? I took my son last year at about 20 months, and had a great trip. I am taking him again in Oct, when he'll be 2 yrs, 11 months. Is that too young to try the autograph thing? Just curious what others experience with that is.

Just so I can compare prices with purchasing an autograph book on eBay or elsewhere vs at WDW- How much do they cost at WDW for the autograph book and the photo/autograph book? Thanks!

The last time that we went to WDW my DS had just turned 3, he was terrified by all of the characters and his sister (4 at the time) ended up getting his book signed for him. But that is just our experience, BTW he is STILL scared of Santa and the Easter Bunny!!! :goodvibes

My DD was 4 and DS turned 2 on our trip. He got into it as time went on and they took turns holding the pen and book (I only had one). So next time, they will each have their own!
