Any thoughts?

When I saw Scandinavia would be showcasing 'meatballs and lingon berry' I immediately thought they were going to have an IKEA marketplace and I had vision of it coming flat packed:rotfl:

As someone going in 2012 the talk of chocolate sends my heart a-flutter:lovestruc

I think seafood is a great choice for both Oz and NZ - as long as it's done well:)

When I showed DD8, she said "Ikea Food !?!?!?!?!" :rotfl: She's not a fan of the Sweedish meatball... unlike her Mum, but that's another story :rolleyes1

No lamb this year at Australia?

The shrimp on the Barbie looks good. Whether they serve it freshly cooked is something that I'd be interested to find out....in anyone's TR...

We had the NZ scallop and slaw last year and it was beautiful.

I think the "shrimp" looks delicious

Where's the vegemite toast??

Actually, the whole "shrimp on the barbie" thing totally reminds me of Dumb and Dumber. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mqVzRD_nWLQ (Honestly, when was the last time anyone here did that - put a 'shrimp on the barbie'? :rotfl: )

I had to laugh at the spelling out of what a lamington is!

So why doesn't NZ have pavlova? ;) (And what NZer eats a scallop without the lovely roe?!?)

They look good! Is that all that is on offer from here?

I was quite surprised when I received my mail yesterday. It was mail from Disney. Opened it and it was a 22 page catalogue for this years Food and Wine Festival. And I'm not going :sad::sad:

It has maps and all of the food for the different countries. Why didn't they send this to me last year when i was going :rotfl:

Australia has.... Shrimp on the Barbie with Pepper Berry Citrus Glaze, Grilled Lamb Chop with Potato-Goat Cheese Salad and Shiraz Reduction and Lamingon. Then a list of Aussie wines.

New Zealand is Seared Sea Scallop with Kumara-Red Curry Puree and Apple Radish Salad, Lamb Slider

I have to say though that the lamington was so grosse that even if I was going, I wouldn't be trying that again. There is a picture in my last years TR if anybody wants to see pics of the lamington.

Hear hear - the lamingtons last year WERE gross. $3 I think they cost, and they were just WRONG. They didn't get the chocolate right - over here it's a liquid dipping chocolate they useto soak the spongecake in before rolling in finely ground dessicated coconut - whereas over there they used some sort of anaemic-looking chocolate that was more like a frosting that sat on top of the cake that was too crumbly, and the coconut was too coarse.

I gave it five out of ten for effort (they got the basic cake, chocolate, coconut concept sort of right) but zero for appeal.

I remember your lamington picture. DD and I were looking at it thinking YUK! That's not a lamington.
