I just noticed there is not an entrance to a bathroom for the couple who is sleeping in the living room. Shucks. Has anyone here stayed with that scenario? How did it work out? It seems they would most easily use the bathroom in the master bedroom.

I assume your talking about the two bedroom lock off.... the two bedroom dedicated villa has a third bathroom. but with the lock off the smaller bathroom goes away in favor of the door to the "hotel room". It appears that there may be a doorway between the kitchen and the master bathroom which would avoid having to go thru any bedroom...but not 100% sure of that.... we chose the dedicated two bedroom specifically for that third bathroom.. we have 8 of us traveling ( in less than 3 weeks) and everybody is getting excited!

I'm looking at the floor plan for a dedicated 2 bedroom. I was not aware of a third bathroom. I've never been, will be there soon, maybe we're going to be there the same time as you. We're on a RCCL cruise that arrives in Oahu on the 21st!

OK, I went to the Aulani site and it states 2 1/2 baths in a 2 bedroom, whew! That makes me happy!

Just for future info, the 1 bedroom we had at Aulani had a door to the toilet/sink/shower room from the kitchen area.

Only the dedicated 2 bedroom has the extra half bath. The lock-off has a door from the kitchen into the master bath.

Yes, a Dedicated 2BR has a half bath but there's no shower in it - it's a toilet and sink as I've been told. Otherwise as mentioned the lock-off would have the entrance to the master bathroom from the living area.

It is a powder room bath only in the dedicated 2BR, so it is more like 2 ¼ baths.

Here is a simple breakdown of the differences: full vs half vs quarter baths:

1/4 (Quarter) Bath
  • Sink
1/2 (Half Bath or powder room)
  • Sink
  • Toilet
3/4 Bath
  • Sink
  • Toilet
  • Shower
Full Bath
  • Sink
  • Toilet
  • Shower
  • Bathtub
Master Bath

Master bathrooms typically contain the features of a full bath (sink, toilet, bathtub, and shower) and are adjoined to the master bedroom.

I am so happy that our friends will have the 1/2 bath available for their use at night!

Isn't it fabulous!? I sure we can return one day (after DS finishes college). Enjoy!!

We are hoping for a return in 2 years! We arrived by way of a RCCL cruise to Hawaii from Vancouver, we will skip the cruise, just do Aulani, that saves us some money!

I enjoyed reading your reports on Aulani, Annie!

A 2 bedroom door might be different from the one bedroom. But in a 1 bedroom the person in the bathroom can be spy on from the master bedroom area bathtub area. The way the door is made. Something to think about

IF the accordian style shutter doors are opened, you can see the shower stall from the master bedroom.
