Hello Aulani experts!

After dreaming of it for a long time, we are finally visiting Hawaii this summer and we're staying at Aulani! We aren't DVC owners, and are staying in an Ocean View room. Are there any requests we should make, like higher floor, etc?

Thanks so much for any advice you guys can give!

Are you staying in a DVC Villa or a regular hotel room?

If its a DVC villa then you should check out the Aulani views thread.... at this point there are only a couple of views posted on the thread from regular hotel rooms, but it may help give you an idea.
Here is the link to start with and then if you have any other questions just ask:

As an aside, if your reservation is for a regular hotel room then I would probably start with asking for the EWA tower.... some of the Ocean View hotel room views that I have seen from the Waianea tower were blocked somewhat by the Marriott.

I looked at those photos and the view is lovely, but do you know if there are ocean view regular rooms closer to the beach and not way back like that? I'd rather not see all those other rooms across from me if possible.

Unfortunately, the DVC sections are the ones closest to the ocean while the hotel portion of Aulani is closer to the lobby. As seen on this map, the hotel rooms are in the lower right hand corner and have room numbers of 20-29 and 30-47. There aren't any rooms -- either hotel or DVC villas -- that won't have some other rooms in their views. Well, there is an exception: The DVC three-bedroom Grand Villas are on the end caps of the Waianae Building and Ewa Building and have a direct view of the ocean with no other villas in their view.

Thanks so much! This is just the kind of information I was looking for. Any recommendations on how to word my room request for the optimal ocean view? I know a high floor, but any other advice?

There are two wings to the hotel section of Aulani: One wing has room numbers that end in xx20 to xx29; the other wing has room numbers xx30 to xx47.

I'm not positive where the hotel's ocean view rooms are located, but I suspect they are on the higher floors in both wings. If you want to see Aulani's Waikolohe Valley (home to the main pool and lazy river), you might want to ask for a room in the xx30-xx47 wing. If you'd rather see the Wailana Adult pool, then ask for a room in the xx20-xx29 wing.

I don't have any photos showing the views from the hotel wings, but I have a couple showing a view of each wing.

Here is a photo of the xx20-xx29 wing taken from the far end of the Wailana pool. The hotel wing is in the background and the DVC Waianea villas are on the right.
