Aulani premier season question

I searched and did not find any answers to this question. I am going to Aulani first week of May regardless because my dates are not flexible, but trying to understand why that week is Premier. For 2017 April 29-May 5 is in the Premier Season. But if you go to the Aulani website to book a cash reservation, under seasons it shows this week to be during the "value" season (the lowest).

Does anyone know why the discrepancy? Is that week a special week for something I am just missing?

Thanks.

Disney seasons and DVC season often do not coincide. Even at Walt Disney World you'll see weeks with vast discrepancies between the two entities.

I am not sure of that particular time period but what you can find sometimes at Aulani is higher point costs for seemingly unimportant weeks in the US that are principal holiday times in Asian countries which were targeted for sales at Aulani.

Understood, but usually if its a specific week (like a holiday) it would coincide, just thought that was strange.

Yes thought of that as well. Did some google searching and found that May 1 is May Day, one of 7 public school holidays in China. Then in Japan April 29 is Showa Day, May 3 is Constitution Memorial Day, May 4 is Greenery Day, and May 5 is Children's Day. Hmmmm.

Lots of reasons to celebrate! Sorry you have to pay the higher point costs.

Golden week in Japan is high point season at all resort in Hawaii including Aulani and it runs from the end of April through May 5th. Practically everybody in Japan vacations that week and Hawaii is still a popular vacation spot for the Japanese.
