Hello fellow Dis'ers-I posted this over on the budget board but since it is Oahu/Aulani specific I thought I would here too as you may have had experience and can help me out. Keep in mind I am Canadian and have no experience with Target ship to store.

I am looking at a ship to store scenario at Target for an Aulani stay and I need my American Target experts to guide me through this.

I read on the Target website that they only hold ship to store for 4 days and if there is stock they will have it ready in approx 2 hours/possibly next day if ordered after hours.

We are arriving Dec 30th in the late afternoon and plan to head to Target in Kapolei on our way to Aulani.

So my questions for you all with ship to store experience is:

1) how accurate is this info from the website regarding timing?
2) if the store shows stock, should I even bother with this idea?
3) when do you think I should place my order? Dec 29th? Dec 28th? I only ask because I just went through a thing with Kohls once where it showed up as in stock but then they edited my order after it was "ready to ship" (to store) for one item that was not in stock so I am trying to decide if I just bring the stuff from home and pay for a bag under the plane or try to do this Target pick up.

Any advice it greatly appreciated!

be careful when doing ship to store to hawaii...any store except best buy can be...iffy...for some odd reason best buy is one of a very few that doesn't add a surcharge or downgrade free shipping (amazon prime is free standard shipping instead of 2 day shipping) ship to store can often take 7+ days if the item isn't in stock...and sometimes they may not tell you until you go to pick it up.

what kind of supplies were you looking to ship/pick up? using something like amazon and trying to ship to aulani may be a better option.

you may also have to pay a "hawaii surcharge" in addition to your free shipping or in store pick up...you won't see it until checkout when you're about to pay.

I tried ship to store with Target in East Coast before and they got them ready within 2 hours, and generally, no issue. However, I never tried it with the Target in Hawaii. We just came back from Aulani and shopped couple times at the Target next to Aulani. That Target is pretty well stocked and we didn't have any issue of finding things that we need including grocery and alcohol. They even sell some cheap souvenirs and a Starbucks in the store. So I guess it really depend on what you are looking to buy/order at Target. =)

I think it depends on what you're ordering. If it's just groceries, I wouldn't worry about it. If it's something else, you might try Amazon instead. We are going to Aulani in two weeks and I am just shipping items from Amazon (and also sending a box from myself). Once it ships, it takes about a week. I ordered items June 26 and one box is arriving tomorrow, so it's pretty fast. They just ask that you put (YOUR NAME Arriving mm/dd/yy) on the package. We will be getting groceries there, but there were things that I needed that 1) I knew I could get cheaper on Amazon than in Hawaii and 2) knew we'd be too tired the first day to try shopping at various places for, so this way it comes to us directly.

Great suggestions! Do any of you know how long Aulani might hold something for me? Is there a max amount of time that is standard with DVC? I am looking to buy a blow up air mattress. I own two but they are good quality and tend to be heavy-ish so I really dont want to put a suitcase under with one of them if I can just purchase one there and then leave it. I see Target Kapolei has Coleman ones (in stock but perhaps seasonal?) for about 20-30 bucks which makes it worthwhile to ship to store. Amazon has quite an incredible selection but free shipping over $35 so I am not sure about that. I was also thinking WalMart and other places but I dont want to be running around trying to find one. We are actually starting our stay at the Marriott Ko Olina Beach and this is where I need it for the most. We did a similar stay last summer (Marriott and Aulani) but the Marriott beds are way too soft for me so one of the kids sleeps with DH and I slept on the sofa bed (not my favorite for sure) So my answer is an air mattress! Sorry for rambling and I know it seems trivial but I am a compulsive planner and dont want to miss a moment of island time.
